Show 1 6 Vernal Expra November 6, 1985 Wednesday, Gift drive for Happenings Gamma Beta prepares activities disabled vets League enjoys Halloween bash Gamma Beta, a chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, met for their first meeting of the month Monday, Nov. 4 at the home of Lesha Hacking. There were 11 members present who stood for the opening ritual. Paula Frost reminded the new pledges to get together so they can set up their pledge training. Marilyn Gragert reminded everyone of their assignments for the bazaar to be this Friday and Saturday at the National Guard Armory. Margaret announced that the next social will be a Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 22, also the birthday luncheon will be Nov. 14 at the Pizza Barn. Members were told about the fashion show luncheon to be at the Country lilTO.KFW ft On Wednesday, Oct. 30 members of the Ashley Valley Womens League Local auxiliary president Lola Edrington is reminding the auxiliary members of Jensen Unit 124 to bring their gift contributions to the auxiliary meeting Thursday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Legion Hall. The gifts can be for children and adults and should be of nonbreakable materials. Anyone wishing to contribute items for the veterans may drop them off at Federal Womens Seminar Ashley Natl. Forest Service 9 a.m. Sheraton had a Halloween party at the home of Barbara Hermann, hostess for the evening. Lori Ross Barbara and organized the party which included a potluck dinner furnished by club members. The dessert was prepared by the hostesses. All stood for the closing ritual and joined hands for the Mizpah. Refreshments were served by the hostess and the door prize was won by Cleo Mortenson. The next meeting will be Monday, Nov. 18 at the home of Fran Harding. Historical group to hear history of P. Abplanalp Mon: About eighty reservations have been made for the Federal Womens Seminar to be at the Sheraton Inn Thursday, Nov. 7. The theme of the event, sponsored by Ashley National Forest, is Todays Opportunity for Women in the Work Place. According to Jan Gardner, director of the Federal Womens Program, a few last minute reservations may be accepted Wednesday by calling the National Forest Office at Special speakers for the seminar include; Charlene Brown of KUTV news; Karla Conway, state trooper; John Beaslin, attorney; Glenn Casamassa, forestry technician and Ricky Brazell, wildlife biologist. The conference subjects are of interest to both men and women and all are invited to attend, however, reservations are required. Guest speaker will be Uell Hunting who will give the history of Peter Abplanalp, an early pioneer of this area from Switzerland. The meeting will take place at 2 p.m. at the Golden Age Center. All interested persons are invited to attend.
