Funds to help plex-a-gla- Over 30 prisoners have moved into their new quarters in the recently constructed Uintah County Jail. After all the minor details were worked out prisoners moved from the old jail to the new complex Thursday, Oct. 31. The new 60 bed facility will better accommodate the number of prisoners that are typically required to fulfill a jail sentence in the county. The new jail is divided into several security areas and now has an area set aside for female prisoners. Adding a separate, single cell section for female prisoners will allow the district court more flexibility in sentencing women. The old jail only had multiple bed cells and unless a cell was completely empty, female prisoners could not be housed in the county jail. Before the new jail was constructed the court generally only had two when sentencing options females; prison or probation. At the present time there are three women housed in the six bed section. Deputy Ken Konrad, jail commander, said that the jail personnel experienced no problems when moving the prisoners to their new location. The prisoners seem to have adjusted to the new facility with little difficulty and enjoy the privilege of an exercise yard that was not available in the old jail. Prior to moving prisoners into the mount the Eagles may be needed.
