Show 2A Sun Advocate, Price, Utah Wednesday, January 5, 1983 Chamber plans 2 special meets The Carbon County Chamber of Commerce has scheduled two special meetings for its members in January. On Thursday, a meeting to explain Utahs new Small Economic Business Revitalization (SBER) program will begin at noon at the Carbon Country Club. Special guest speaker will be Shirley Chilton, president of the California Chamber of Commerce. The meeting is being cosponsored by the Emery County Chambers of Commerce and the Southeastern Utah Association to 8 of Governments. Call make reservations. The SBER program will provide successful business owners the technical assistance they need to acquire financing to expand their operations. Chilton, a director of the National Development Council, 637-278- I A 1 and staff from the state and Industrial Economic Development Division, will discuss how the SBER program works and its significance for Utah businesses. On Wednesday, Jan. 12, the Chamber will hold its annual and Installation Awards Banquet at 7 p.m. at the Carbon Country Club. Guest speaker will be Hal Gardiner who will offer an entertaining look at the tourism industry. Master of Ceremonies will be Louis Bunnell. New officers who will be installed are: Max Tolman, president; Rae Procarione, vice Kathy Hanson, treasurer; and Duane Taylor, corporate secretary. The bill ' has been on the books for the past eight years but was taken out by an amendment to another bill last year. It would allow a business to build a road, for instance, and deduct the ex- pense of building the road from the companys sales tax. A bill that would make it Grants available for visually impaired Scholarships for visually impaired students will be available during the 1983-8- 4 school year at the College of Eastern Utah through the American Council of the Blind. Lucile Jensen, CEU director of financial aid and scholarships, said that 12 scholarships totalling $20,000 will be awarded to visually impaired students who have been admitted for vocational, technical, or academic studies beyond high school level throughout the United States. Ms. Jensen added that a CEU professional legal to practice acupuncture in the state with a license. As far as I know there is only one person in the state that practices acupuncture and he is in Salt Lake City. But he has helped a lot of people, here in Carbon County so I have promised to support the bill, Dmitrich said.
