Show O Sun Advocate ECHS banquet to graduate at ECHS rites 26 - SUNNYSIDE East Carbon High School seniors will say their final farewells May 27 as they receive their diplomas at 7:30 p.m. ceremonies in the school gymnasium. seniors will be Twenty-si- x with five receiving graduating high honors and nine receiving honors. A welcome address will be given by the class of 1982s president, Richie Howell. Honor student Carolyn Eaquinto, will offer the invocation at the ceremony. This years theme is Catch A Star. Netters win region as season closes For the first time since 1973, the East Carbon High School Viking netters won the Region XIII championship in Price May 7 and earned an invitation to the State 1A playoffs in Park City last weekend. The players placing at the meet and qualifying for the state playoffs were: first singles, taking first place, Kevin Berdan; second singles, taking second place, Robbie Nielsen; third singles, taking second place, Berdan. In doubles play the Viking team showed their superiority by taking first place in the first doubles category. Paul Candelaria and Alan Brandon made up the winning team. In the second doubles taking first . place, the team of Gary Kuhns and Nick Zaccaria. The final team standings were East Carbon, first; Monticello, second; and Green River, third. The Viking squad attended the state meet in Park City last weekend and tied with Monticello High School for fourth place. The No. 3 singles player, Berdan, won one match in the first round earning the Vikings one point. The second doubles team of Kuhns and Zaccarria won the first round match in the second round of play also earning the Vikings one point. Park City took first place in the State 1A playoffs with Dugway placing second and St. Josephs '' coining in third.
