Show Guide, May 1992 Pageant tells pioneer story The Castle Valley Pageant is more than a show, it is an unforgettable experience. An dark, hour before horse-draw- n wagons wind their way along a ridge to the pageant site, silhouetted against a panoramic view of Castle Valley. Spectators know immediately they will see something unique. As night falls, lights come up on an authentic set with log cabins, a dug-ou- t, tipis, a blacksmiths shop and a stable with a hobbled milk cow inside. The overture begins and the wagons come across the rock-walle- d stage. this time, the audience familiar with the buildings in the natural theatre near the mountains. Those who arrive at the site early are invited to explore and mingle among folk artists who are using the set as a By is pioneer village. Once the story begins to unfold, the 1990s fall away and it is the late nineteenth century. Because the audience continues to grow into the thousands, and seating is limited, the pageant will be performed in six days this year, July 31, Aug. 1, 5, 6, 7 and 8 at dusk.
