See the beauty of the San Rafael Desert, the worlds longest corridor of rock art in Nine-Mil- e Canyon, the Cleveland-LloyDinosaur Quarry, the majestic mountains that surround Castle Country or visit the four museums. Get an insight into our unique and diverse heritage. There are four scenic routes in our mountains where a traveler never has to leave the pavement to enjoy our alpine beauty. There are two challenging nine-hol- e golf courses in Castle Country where you can enjoy the serenity of leisurely play and rid your d mind of the worlds frustrations. In Castle Country, there are many opportunities for participation activities. We have a wave pool, bicycle trails, walking year-roun- d tours of historic sights, hunting, fishing, boating, camping and ORV routes to accommodate the travel needs of almost any visitor. Some of the many pleasures I experience as the director of the travel council for Carbon and Emery counties are my visits with potential visitors to Castle Country when we do trade shows on the Wasatch Front and throughout the West. Its heartwarming to see their reaction to photos of the Wedge overlook, Goblin Valley, Swaseys Cabin, Slipper Arc or the rock art panels from Nine-Mil- e Canyon. The photos of our mountains, lakes and streams whet their travel appetite and entice them to visit Castle Country. Our lists of attractions continue to grow. We can now refer our visitors to local entrepreneurs who will guide or escort our guests through Nine-Mil- e Canyon or the San Rafael Desert, either in a van or on horseback, From Price, you can arrange float trips through Desolation or Westwater canyons. We have bicycle trail maps and organized mountain bike events. Our Carbon Golf Course is adding nine more holes which will be open to the public. This addition will be ready for play within a year. Millsite Golf Course is still one of the best kept golfing secrets in Utah, and its a pleasure to tell visitors about this challenging course to add to their golfing itinerary. The CEU Prehistoric Museum is now accredited (one of only four accredited museums in Utah) and will dise soon house a play of the Huntington mammoth.
