Fairy Godmother Will Work Her Magic In Murray Park MURRAY. The worlds favorite fairy tale will unfold next week in Murray Park, complete with music by Rodgers and Hammserstein. Every girls secret dream will come true as the Fairy Godmother, played by Linda Moore transforms Cinderella (Bonnie Lund) into a princess to attend the ball at the palace where it has been announced by the king and queen (Steve Cottam and Judy Jones) that Prince Charming (James Horrocks) will choose a wife. The Wicked Stepmother (Mary Williams) has seen to it that Cinderella is left behind in hopes that one of her very unwinsome daughters Portia (Binky Willis) and Joy (Alisa Harris) might find favor with the prince. Cinderella does attend the ball, thanks to the Fairy Godmother, but things fail apart at the stroke of midnight and another act is required to right things again. Julie Andrews played the original role on Broadway, but the fairy tale itself goes back to the era in Egypt, the modern version having been translated from a French story. Rodgers and merstein set some of their most beautiful music to the ages old tale and It is staged in magical, colorful fashion with a large' chorus so typical of musical comedy. Cinderella will mark the musical theater debut in the new Murray Park amphitheater. Thursday, Aug. 1 is opening night and the production will contmue through Wednesday, Aug. 7, excluding Sunday. Tickets are on sale at Murray City Hall and Day Murray Music. Gates will open at 7 p.m. for those who have purchased tickets in advance. Ticket sales will begin at the theater at 7:30.
