Show 3 WEST VALLEY VIEW Thursday, Mar. For Girls Teams 22, 1984 - Coach Honor Accorded Bulldog Mentor MURRAY. Compiling the best record in the history of girls basketball at Judge Memorial has earned Coach of the Year honors for Bulldog mentor John Colosimo. Colosimo, who would be the first to give a lot of credit to his assistant Maureen Eckroth, guided the team to an 18-- record and fourth place in the state tournament. 6 game, Judge would not The Bulldogs kept fighting back. It was that spirit that let the team win the close games in the1 region. Probably the finest victory of the season was the 6 overtime win over Mountain View in the quarterfinals. In the tourneys opening round, Mountain View star Julie Schlappi had scored 31 points in an easy win for the Bruins. Colosimo and Eckroth went to the drawing board to design a defense semi-fina- l fold. 37-3- that would prevent that from happening to them, and it worked. Schlappi was held far below her average with 11 points and, more importantly, a clutch free throw sent Judge to the semifinals. d The Judge girls were on defense and disciplined on offense. They learned position rebounding to offset their lack of size and they played well as a team. Colosimos roots at Judge are deep. He starred as prep football player and has served many years as an assistant football coach, in ad dition to his duties as girls basketball coach. The Bulldogs have been a frequent visitor at the state tournament under his guidance.
