Members of Magna Community church here will launch the Christmas season Sunday with the annual Hanging of the Greens, a custom that originated in England Santa's Schedule Is Posted In Magna MAGNA. The schedule for Santas appearance will be Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Dec. 10 from 1 to 3 p.m., Dec. 12 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m, Dec. 14 from 6:30 to 8:30, Dec. 17 from 1 to 3 p.m., and Dec. 19 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. during medieval times. As part of the observance, the church family will decorate the Christmas tree, the sanctuary and the pews, while younger members will dress a smaller tree with decorations of their own. Branch funds have also been presented to various churches to assist with specific needs, he said. A branch appeal will be conducted Sunday to assist Our Savior Lutheran church with reduction of an unexpectedly large book bill, and a second appeal the same day will be held to assist St. Pauls Lutheran church in acquiring a badly needed copy machine for the church office. Lutheran Brotherhood will match up to $1,000 for each challenge appeal. All Lutheran Brotherhood policyholders are automatically members of the branch, said Mr. Ellingson.
