Show HANDSOME tabernacle NEARING nil on friday last the writer in company with mr air D leo madsen one of the architects paid a visit to garland and inspected the beautiful fu stake tabernacle which the people of the dear bear river niver stake are erecting the work on the structure has got so far along that the auditorium is practically ready for the installation of the seats contractor 11 21 E anderson has a force of mechanics putting on tile the finishing touches to the rostrum and hanging the doors the painters pain will soot soon give the woodwork its covering of 0 paint and varnish and then the structure will be ready tor for occupancy the sets can be placed while the painters are at t work so that there will be no waiting the building Is constructed of red pressed brick of a dark color trimmed with white sandstone making a very beautiful effect the skeleton of the building Is ot of steel a now ncr departure in houses of worship but a step in the right direction for the building when completed will be as substantial as tile the rock ot of gibraltar the structure faces east and south with the main entrance on tile the east A north and south entrance is also provided the entire width of tile the building between the two corner towers on oil the east end is designed tor for the entrance and is is approached by cement steps running ille the full width of the building three sets of double doors and two single doors open into a six foot lobby which in turn opens to the north and south to the balcony halls and stairways from the lobby swinging doors open to the lack back of the auditorium into a wide aisle which ruris runs the entire width of the auditorium and from which the aisles running lengthwise lead off the auditorium la is feet in the clear or a total dimension of feet including the choir quadrant and bostrum Post the rostrum and choir aro are located in a quadrant in the west end of the building and accommodations have leen been provided tor for about 60 singers 24 chairs on the presidency stand and 36 on the bishops stand each of these sections are divided with an artistic lattice woodwork in the case of 0 the two stands and a carved partition to con form to the raised sections of the choir between the presidency stand and choir section A balcony extends around the auditorium about three fourths the distance and will accommodate four tiers or benches on the sides and about six in the back the total seating capacity of the building when finished will be 1600 people the auditorium has a sloping floor there are no posts to obstruct in the auditorium as the balcony Is bull upon steel extended trusses with the posts set lust just out far enough from the wall on the sides to admit of an aisle between them and the wall the ends ot of the benches will come just to the posts the steel girders that support the roof make a panel bariel effect as they have been cased over and stained a beautiful dark red birch all the interior finishing is done in liard hardwood wood with floor door of the same material the stain will be dark red birch the windows are of stained art glass in design and a most beautiful shade which admits a soft light and cuts off all shafts and sharp rays the ventilation of the building is about the last word tile heating plant is a moline vacuum system something new and recognized as a big advancement over the old stylo style hot water and steam heating plants and it operates to not alone heat the building but ventilate it ns as well A side from the abundance of radiation installed two great fresh air ai r ducts run from the towers along under the floor of the auditorium to tour four shafts through the floor two on each side in those four shafts are some air warming coils thru which the fresh air up thus completing the warmed and then blown up into the auditorium thus creating a circulation in each side of the choir quadrant is an air shaft supplied with aspirating coils which sucks the foul air up thus competing the circulation begun when the warm fresh air enters the room from the four air shafts in the floor and during cold weather when the lowering ot of windows is fresh air will come in and the system will operate just the same at al each bide aide ot of the choir quadrant are rooms and easy entrances to lo the basement which however extends only across tile the west end ot of the itulid building directly under the choir and outside exits open from tile the approaches to the basement leading off to the north from the center of the ardito auditorium r is a set or of wide steps that connect wim a hall which in turn con with the main room ot of the old I 1 dilding nil ding which is to bo be used by we me garland carland ward as a ward chapel along the hall way are two splendid class rooms on the west side and the ward chaje will bo be laige enough to accommodate comfortably comfor taby about three hundred people an ail outside entrance and exit opens from tile the center of the hadway ha hai iway way which conforms to the outlines ot of the tabei nacle the basement of the tabernacle is divided into two large laige rooms separated by a wide folding door bt bo that they can be thrown into one room it if necessary by constructing the tabernacle so that it connects with the old school building provis ion has been made for the handling ot of a crowd ot of people up to two anous and or more all in the same building practically so that the bear river stake will have quarters that will always be ample to accommodate the membership that turns out to public gatherings in the rear of the ward chapel and to the north of the tabernacle build ing a few feet is the boller boiler house and lavatories this Is a separate building but only separated from he others by a few feet the holier bonee m doan as low as the excavation could be made on account of the water and the top floor is utilized lor for toilets equipped with the m most ost modern fixtures for convenience and sanita ton lon the heating plant Is so installed that by the simple closing ol of a valve the ward chapel can be heated aone or the tabernacle can be heated alone or both buildings can be warm ed up and made comfortable in the keenest weather it is an ideal con coa to be fully appreciated the building must be inspected and at af er ii aroll thru its handsome in erbor
