Mrs. Griffith explamed that the league has been active in social legislation, encouraging international peace, striving to shape policy in environment and energy and proposing equal opportunity in bousing, employment and education. She pointed out that the league's program, nationally and locally, consists of those governmental issues that members choose for concerted study and action. The program process begins with research, study and discussion and culminates in action and change. In Utah, Mrs. Griffith said the local government structure and functions. planning and water have been central to league study and action throughout its entire history. Later additions have been transportation and the whole area of human resources. The Utah league has been awarded the first Science for Citizens grant in Utah by the National Science Foundation.
