Jay Clegg, Fruit Heights, an assistant professor of communications at Weber State College, was elected as the new party chairman. Clegg succeeds Lillian Wood of West Bountiful. The new slate of officers elected include Elizabeth Willey, Bountiful, vice chairman; district 14; LaVon Andrews, Clearfield, district 15; Mary Connelly, Layton, district 16; Dean Brand, Fruit Heights, district 17; Elaine Williams, Centerville, district 18; David Lind-stro- Bountiful, district, 19; and Barry Godwin, district 20. Keynote speaker was Mayor Stephen Dirks of Ogden. Dirks said, We are here today to view the world as it is and perhaps make some criticism of it. On the national scene, the administration can be criticized for what is happening in jobs. He also said there is a parallel between what is happening now in Central America and the early stages of the Vietnam conflict.
