The Darts earned the right to play Brighton by defeating Cottonwood earlier in the week, On Saturday, the Darts easily 3-- 1. defeated the Bengals, con- sidered the tournament favorite. The Darts scored three goals on penalty kicks and Bacon contributed three goals for the Darts, two of which came off the penalty kicks. Viewmont also played well in the tournament and gave every team they faced a tough match. Apparently the Vikings didnt know who they were playing on Friday night, the Brighton Bengals, because they came out and played them straight and the Bengals had to take the match into overtime to come away with the win, 4 in double over6-- time. The opening goal of the game came on a mixup on defense, and the Bengals squibbed the ball in on an easy tap. In the second half, View-monVernaun Gines put his head into one and got the goal with just more than 15 minutes left in the game. ts After the first overtime period produced no score, a shoot-ou- t began to determine the winner. Both sides were even, and it was the Bengal goalie, Mike Peacock, that stopped the fifth Davis shot. Bengal Mike Halls shot was hit by Viewmont goalie, Robyn Steenstra, but it dribbled into the goal for the winning score. Joey Smith, who played the right wing position, had a good day both ways for Viewmont, but this time the Bengals came out on top. In the losers bracket, the Layton Lancers beat the Alta Hawks 1 on Friday to advance to play Viewmont on Saturday.
