| Show CHARGED WITH POLYGAMY thomas F harris indicted for marrying a second wife one of the two indictments for polygamy jound found by thel tb elate late grand jury was against thos F harris a non mornion mormon late of ogden the other indictment being against mrs polly gaines graham who is now BOW serving a term in the penitentiary lor for unlawful cohabitation I 1 the indictment in this case sets forth that the defendant harris on december 20 1880 at the city of salt lake in the third judicial district utah territory oryl did marry and take to wife one elizabeth whose maiden name is to the grand jurors unknown spinster and her the said elizabeth then and there had bad for his wife from whom the said thomas F harris harris has never been divorced and that she khe the said elizabeth ever since the day and year last I 1 a t aforesaid has been and still lear Is S the th e lawful wife of him the said thomas F harris and that the said thomas V F harris after the day last aforesaid and while he was so married to the said elizabeth hs as aforesaid to wit on the day of june A D 1886 at the said cit city of salt lake in the county of salt lake and iu in the district and ter aforesaid unlawfully and feloniously lonious ly did marry and take to wife one abbie lawrence and to her the said abbie Liu lawrence wrence was then and there unlawfully ully and feloniously married the said Elizab elizabeth etli his former wife being bein taen alive and so the grand jurors J aforesaid do charge hirthe said thomas P F harris with the crime of polygamy committed in manner and form aforesaid against the reform of the statute of the united states in such case made and provided against the peace and dignity of the same today to day mr harris was brought in a and ad was arraigned on the foregoing charge to which he be pleaded not guilty he was then returned to prison |
