Review Editor: I had to laugh when I read that Woods Cross City Council .had unanimously voted to ban ; dancing in bars to any music, ; between midnight Saturday night and 7 a.m. Monday morn-- . ing. I am still wondering why. What could be the results of this ordinance? Here are a few ; ideas : 1.- ) Get the drunks off the dance floor and out on the roads where they belong, at midnight. This is at an hour when many people are on the road, returning home after a movie, or high school kids driving home from dates or church dances. Hardly in the interest of , non-drinki- public safety! 2.- ) Get the drinkers to sit down for an hour of serious drinking before the bars close at 1 a.m. A toast to City Hall! 3.- ) Discourage people from drinking in bars on Saturday night. This will result in decreased tax revenues for the city, providing an excuse to , raise taxes, which will stifle pother more businesses. 4.) Maybe Woods Cross is taking this step as the first in a series of blue laws. Curious that Editorial Donato to Library Lfoivys Review Editor: Our family moved here two years ago from Erie, Pennsylvania, which puts me in a unique position to compare libraries. I expected to find expanded arts, crafts, sewing, cooking and cultural choices and certainly wasnt disappointed. But I also expected to find shelves of LDS books. What a surprise. There are actually fewer LDS books on the shelves here than in Erie with its ratio of one Mormon to each one thousand One way to build up the type of selection you would like in a library is to donate books in memory of a loved one. All that is needed is to call the library and request a list of books on the subject you wish, and make a donation. A name plate is put into the book and the library will even send a card to the family for you if you so request. Books would do so much more good than fastfading flowers. Because children often are not capable of testifying against those charged with the crimes, courts have been inclined to give suspects the benefits of the doubt and those convicted have often been punished minimally. Treatment at mental health facilities Must Approve Review Editor: In October, 1982, 94 acres of CountyBARD property was advertized forbid. At this time I called Commissioner Eberhard, Mayor Palmquist and Elmer Barlow (BARD manager). I explained to them that Mr. Argyle had been renting the property and he was doing a good job of maintaining it. I also explained I would like to bid on it at such time as Mr. Argyle was not interested or able to. I sent a letter to Eberhard to this effect. Mr. Barlow explained to me in October that it was a matter of law to advertise the property for bid. I understand at the BARD meeting, Mr. Argyles bid was accepted and later rejected by Mr. Barlow, and that it was rebid. The Dee Events Center presents, All Seats $12.00 Commission are ingaged in negotiation with bidders on the contract for this property for 1983. I think that this property should be readvertised for bid, and that it be done according to law. As this property is in the name of Davis County, the County Commission must approve any contracts the BARD Commission agrees to. Mr. Barlow as manager does not have the authority to accept : or negotiate contracts. ; v WEDNESDAY, APRIL 20, 1983 7:30P.M. EVENIiOC ENTER 8S OGDEN. UTAH COLLEGE ?.'
