| Show REPORT OF A missionary an t of travel and labors in the south la in the following communication which was wag addressed to apostle franklin D richards elder wn A guymon of huntington E emery mery county gives ad an account of his recent mission to the southern states I 1 left salt lake city nov 2 1 1886 in company with a number of elders and arrived in chattanooga tenn where I 1 was assigned to laott in the west virginia conference I 1 went to west virginia and labored in the vicinity of sandy river in company with elder eider M H farnes fames of logan utah our labors were principally iu in logan wayne and lincoln counties cou niles there bad been a great deal of labor done in that part of the country by our elders previous to that time an and d we like the rest had very little success A great many of the people seemed to believe our testimony pony but the road read we marked out seemed tod narrow tor for them R LABORED faithfully aaitui ULLY with the people in that district until about may lofb when we felt like leaving them in the hands of the lord and hunting hunt lua a locality where the people had not had the privilege of heurin bearin heuring bearing ing the gospel we had baptized a man by the name of whitt in logan county his wife had bad received fie gospel about two years before they intend gathering with the saints in colorado in the spring we were advised by elder president of the conference to travel I 1 east which we did and aad went luto I 1 boon we called to see presided hurst who was then laboring la in that county with elder guy C wilson as his bis companion we arrived on OB joes creek boon co may mar loth where we met toe brethren and it was an alLee allegeable able meeting to us all as we were all somewhat acquainted and elder hurst huret is my nephew an elder had bad just arrived named david T powell from lake boint tooele thoele county utan president hurst thought it westfor best for elam powell ank and myself to so go still further east into raleigh county pud and try and open up A NEW FIELD as there had been no work done in that part so after visiting with the elders and saints for a lew few days on an the of may we bade them goodbye good bye and elder powell and aall I 1 started for raleigh county where we labored until I 1 wits was released on account of ill III health to return home with the company of saints that left chattanooga nov 18 1886 elders powell and I 1 were very much blessed in our labors in bilevich co we succeeded in a field where there therb will be a great reat deal of good done yet we baptized ten and made a host of friends who are amons among the most influential fluent ial part of the community com manity I 1 left theSa the Saints luts and elders in that part partle feeling ellig well and la in the enjoyment of the spirit of the gospel I 1 arrived at my home dome in hu 2 gt 0 emery county utah dece december b e r 1 ast 1st t found my family famil well since returning home borne my health has improved some and I 1 hope bope through the blessings of the lord to be soon entirely restored |
