committee consisting of folland and simon 11 joba shepherd asked to lease the city sand beds committee on public grounds D P tarpey represented that in the construction of public buil buildings dingis he could furnish as goad native building buil dioR rock as there was in the territory and at a lower price than was now being charged he therefore asked consideration at the hands of the council filed requested by lawand that there had been but one objection filed that was in the ewe case of W Q G morgan of ouray colo and not sufficient to defeat the same the usual order was made SUCCEEDS DAVENPORT the mayor sent in a communication appointing joseph busby a member of the regular police force to succeed john davenport resigned received sad and filed and appointment oun confirmed firmed REFERRED BACK TO HIS HONOR the mayor also reported in the matter of the relief on taxes of certain persons referred to we me on december eth with power to act I 1 beg to report that I 1 lam am not vested with the power to remit in whole or in part pad the taxes of any one but that this power under the law rests with the council I 1 therefore herewith return the papers to you for such action in the promises premises you may deem just and proper referred back to the mayor with power to give the relief asked PRINTING CONTRACT SIGNED the city recorder reported that the mayor had signed the oon contracts tracts with the tribune jub job printing and the salt lake lithographing Litho graphing company for the printing and binding of the revised ordinances JOINT BUILDING MATTERS the city recorder reported in the matter of the bill of against J H bowman for the use of water on the eighth ward square that the joint committee recommended that the tax be abated and on the matter of H M willard Is bill of for labor in packing ground around the joint city and county building hat the bill be paid oy dy the county and city council each one half the first portion of the repart was adopted the letter latter part was referred to the committee on claims WANT TO CONNECT WITH THIS THE SEWER the french steam laundry company asked permission to connect their premises with the city sewer mains for a period of four months at which time they say bay they will have had larger buildings erected at a point some distance from their present place of business committee on sewerage STEVENS subdivision the city engineer reported that plats plate of stevens subdivision in five acre plat A bad been filed in his office in accordance dance with the requirements of ordinance and asked for instructions regarding the approval of the same ordered approved application the application of A 8 kendall city food inspector was referred to the committee on police TO REVISE TUB THE ordinances evans offered the following resolved that the rules of this coun conn oil be referred to the committee on enrollment roll ment for such revision and correction as may be necessary and report the matter back to the council at the next regular meeting adopted EXTENSION OF SEWER TAX PAYMENTS lawson offered the following whereas that in the way of public pa alic improvements prove ments the extension of sewers bisone isone is one of the most pressing importance and as it is a great hardship for many of the taxpayers to meet this special tax within the time given viz thirty days and further as the city has a large amount laying in the treasury that is bearing no interest and further these same citizens could with th comparative ease pay this special wl tax a should ho uld the time be extended therefore be it resolved that on and after the passage s go of the resolution the time within which these special sewer taxes shall be paid shall be extended to six months payments to be made as follows one third of the whole to be paid in two months one third in four months and one third in six months referred to the city attorney TO ASSIST delinquents rich moved that the council authorize the assessor and collector to refrain from collecting delinquent sewer taxes or all that may become delinquent within the next thirty days for a period of thirty days providing the same can be legally done carried whereas the assessments for extension ot water mains on back street have been collected and the superintendent of waterworks water works reports that it would donld not be advisable to lay fay water mains alne until said back street is graded and put in a pass able condition therefore be it resolved that of streets be ordered to grade back street at onoe once for a distance of 2200 teet the city
