Show I 1 00 A in bowl picture despite loss Saturday 1 It was a pretty fair week for Brigham City little league football teams as six won and three lost. All 70 pound teams won except for 70 C No. 1, both 85 pounders won, both 100 pounders lost and the 120 club prevailed over Ogden No. 1. And the 100 B team had a heartbreak'er. After a slow start this season, the team has come on strong and last Saturday completely dominated Bountiful before bowing 6-- Brigham 70 C No. 1 An unbeaten Logan 70 C team continued on their winning ways with a 13-- 0 victory over Brigham No. 1. Logan got the scoreboard early in the first quarter with a quarterback sweep around end. At this point the Brigham defense strengthened with Alan Smith,' Eric Ramos, Jamie Vogt, Sean Cosgrove, David Baker, and Raymond Bronson containing the inside runs. The defensive backs Craig Martinez, Steve Barber, Troy Tuft, Jeff Grenda and Tracy Curtis, inspired by the strong tackling of Terry Pacheco stiffled the Logan passing game and stopped the wide plays until the last quarter when Logan scored on another quarterback sweep. The Brigham offense had tough going the entire day with heavy pressure by the Logan defense. The offensive line led by center Alan Kallmeyer, guards Dan Nisonger, Eric Bertelsen, and ends Chris Edwards, Jeff Olsen allowed quarterback Jeff Ravenberg to execute the majority of his plays with dives and counters being most effective. Terry Pacheco also had a good day at his offensive left halfback position highlighted by a run up the middle. The defense was superb and continually handed the ball back to the quarterbacks Brett Lee Adams and Chris Udy who showed excellent ball handling skill throughout the game, but the real unsung hero of the turf have to be the ofefensive line for Elder Steven Knudson . . . 100 B City 100 B team won Brigham their game in every aspect but score losing to tough Bountiful team The Brigham team, probably the most improved team in the Brigham City area, dominated play of the game. Buck Penn rushed for 78 yards in 13 carries but failed to score a T.D. Keith Taylor caught two passes for 14 yards. The offensive line of the Brigham city team played a great game giving the BC backs 125 yards of total offense. Members of the that line are Keith Taylor, John Searle, Jeff Morgan, Troy Dunlavy, ToiJd Brown, Eric Hazelton and Doug,, Robinette. Robinettte was filling in for Steve Shoun who was lost for the season with an injury. The most improved aspect of the team is the defense. The B.C. team batted down four Bountiful passes, intercepted one pass, blocked a punt, and allowed Bountiful only three first downs. Louie Hicks the middle linebacker has become an outstanding all round player. Louie carried the ball six times for 35 yards, intercepted a pass on defense and made four unassisted tackles. Linebackers Jim Davis and Jeff Morgan throttled the Bountiful running game. Safeties Stan Ettsity and Nate Chappell did not allow on completed pass. The only score came on a broken play as the Bountiful Q.B. ran around the end for 12 yards and the TD. It was the biggest gain made by Bountiful in the game. Keith Taylor, John Searle and Troy Dunlavy closed off the middle to Bountiful and e Brian Lindsey and James filled in admjreably. . , Now that 100 Bs are playing good brand of football they look forward to the game with Lay-to- n at home next week. Brigham 85 B Brigham City 85 B football team bounced back from last weeks loss to defeat Bountiful by a score of 12-- The offensive unit scored touchdowns in each of the first two quarters and had a third touchdown called back on a penalty while the defensive crew completely stymied Bountifuls offensive effort. Tom Olsen scored both Brigham City touchdowns and was able to break for long gains throughout the game. Outstanding running by Ruben Martinez and Don Davis also provided a strong running at- Bur-ridg- tack Jo? Brigham City. Morrison made the T.D. and Rehm added the extra point. Blocking well in the series was Todd Thompson, Kent Poelman, Jim Eskelson, Ivan Earl, Dwight Goodwin and Ken Nowak. Some good defensive plays were turned in by B.C. in the second half. John Cox picked off a lose loose ball and ran it back to the South Ogden 40. Robbie Horne, Dwight Goodwin, Rehm, Morrison, Marshall, John Mason, Eskelson, Velasques, and Pat Munson made some good plays. It took a quarter to get started, but once Kipp Baty returned a punt for 25 yards in the second quarter to put Brigham on Ogdens 34 yard line, Brighams team made it look easy. Runs by Kirk Baty and Joel Huff had the ball on the one yard line in three plays. After a penalty, Doug Albright took it in from the six. The half ended 0 for Brigham. Ogden kicked to Brigham to start the second half. After a 10 yard return by Darren Callaway, Brigham started on their own 41 yard line. Tony Smith and Darren Callaway took the ball to the one in nine plays, where Smith took it in for the second T.D. of the day. Brigham made the 'extra, point, and it was Callaway gained 43 yards in seven plays to lead the Brigham team to victory. Passes to Johnny Joel Huff, Kirt Rhodes, and Smtih kept the drives going for Brigham, while the Defense played a superb game preventing Ogden from posing any serious threats. Albright led the defense with six unassisted tackles, and was helped by David Barham, Brent Nichols, Vic Bowen, Joey Martinez, Dan Davis, Arthur Heredia and Andy Yeates.
