We turned it down because we could see no need for them, Commission Chairman Don Chase said. This was part of a three-par- t request submitted several weeks ago by county members of the Utah Public Employes association. Other facets included one for an evaluation of jobs within the various county departments. Our answer is that this should come from the department heads. Any department head who requests an evaluation, were certainly not opposed to it, Chase stated. He said the third part of the request was for a statement of employe benefits. This information already is available in the clerks office in written form, the chairman explained. He expressed the commission's stand during Tuesdays weekly meeting in Brigham City. The county officials said they were also opposed to creation of scale in which ema pay-ste- p are periodic guaranteed ployes wage increases in addition to raises. cost-of-livi- In other business Tuesday, Commisioner Chase said there are now 20 residents at the recently-opene- d county nursing home at Tremonton. He disclosed also that about 10 vacancies now exist at Pioneer Memorial Nursing home in Brigham City. Eight persons transferred from this facility when the home opened at Tremonton. Its the first time since Ive been on the commission that weve had any nursing home frUcancies,' Chase remarked. He said he was not concerned that all beds are not being used. In fact, the commissioner lamented once more that they had not been authorized to have more than 30 beds at the Tremonton home. Im happy with things at this of point. The transition (opening has gone new home) the smoothly and is working well so far, the chairman stated. NOTICE THE BARBARA Juvenile Harry Cats Pet Puppy by s George Sleden. Councilman Harry Gephart reported Tuesday that he and Councilman Thad Poulter of Garland, together with City Attorney Clint Judkins, huddled on the matter in Salt Lake City last week. Gephart said he was favorably impressed with progress toward an agreement. He noted that Garland must borrow funds for its portion of the improvement project. Salt Lake attorney Richard Fox is serving the two cities in their efforts to reach agreement. He reportedly will visit with the two city councils and engineers in the near future. Brian Honey, representing Valley Engineers which is doing quite heavy over garbage collection service. the planning for improvements to the sewage system, told the Tremonton council that the third phase in the project is ready. The council voted unanimously to submit the plans to the Environmental Protection agency for approval. The phase includes the construction of the plant and type of system they will work with. Honey said bids from contractors will be received in about 30 days. Restrictions Lifted Councilman Gephart said restrictions have been lifted on the use of culinary water in Tremonton. During the summer, residents have been allowed to sprinkle their lawns only every other day. City Recorder Jay Hirschi Failure to pick up garbage or leaving part of it has prompted the gripes. The city has a contract with Kent Doman to provide the service. During a lengthy discussion, officials agreed on a need to have Doman pay the city $6,000 for a city garbage truck which he agreed to buy. They also expressed some concern over the number of complaints but said also theyd not like to see the city hftve to take over the service again. First Place Councilwoman Marjorie Jorgensen said the Tremonton city float received first place in the Box Elder county fair parade. And that it will appear in the Brigham City Peach Days celebration parade. She also commented that more work needs doing on the east side of the city cemetery, citing a ' need for a definite boundary line to be established. Mrs. Jorgensen said that trees on the west side are unsightly and the cemetery committee had suggested they be pulled out. However, council members couldnt agree whether they should be removed or not. They finally decided to make a personal inspection of the trees before reaching a decision.
