I suppose the Peach Queen contest is still the most popular part of the celebration with the parade running a close second. The first Peach Queen I can Mae remember was Christensen. It was 45 years ago when I was in the eight grade. Im sure one of the reasons I remember so well is because I had made some new friends in junior high and one of them was her sister Lester Inez, now Mrs. Richardson of Bountiful. I called Maes sister Mrs. Homer Tingey and found out the former queen is now Mrs. Dwayne Parker of Boulder City, Nev. I understand this is the 72nd Annual Peach Days so you see theres been a number of pretty girls and a lot of crepe paper, roll down Main street during those years. The recipes are all in my head. For the main course you must use your imagination on flavorings. I find cooking is a challenge. Its more than just putting food on the table. Reminiscing Keith recalls when his girls were small. We always used coloring a lot in our food. Pink went over good it made food look yummy, but one he morning I put blue coloring in the pancakes grimaced they were left untouched. I didnt use blue coloring after that. There was something about blue pancakes, he laughed. Keith is active in both church and civic affairs. As a pharmacist he cant be beat. He always is ' willing to take the little extra time to assure an older customer just how to take the medicine that is prescribed and they each go away feeling better almost before they take their medication. He has obtained his collection through trades, purchases from fellow growers, and mail order catalogues. Several of his smaller plants are growing from wood pieces on an upright stand in his greenhouse, and he notes that the plants usually attach to a tree for support in nature. They are not parasites, but manufacture their own food through photosynthesis. Visitors at the flower show will be surprised at the variety of colors, sizes and shapes of the orchids. Sorensen states that the lovely flowers come in all shades of color except a true blue, and he will have many colors on display. The orchid display will be just one of five educational displays that will be included in the annual flower show.
