Some households have been visited and others are still on the calling list as volunteers for the Box Elder Heart Fund drive conduct a neighbor-to-neighbcampaign to collect funds and distribute information about research, public education, professional education, and community service with only two percent going to administration and 16 percent into fund raising, the spokesman explained. heart disease. Since diseases of the heart and circulation are the leading cause of death and disability in the nation and in Utah, the volunteers are interested both in collecting funds for research and in letting their neighbors kiiow how to avoid, treat, and recover from heart disease, a spokesman said. In Utah these diseases afflict more than 89,000 persons and kill more than 3,600 annually. Cardiovascular diseases cause 47 percent of all deaths in Utah, with a variety of causes adding up to the remaining 52 percent . . . placing heart and circulation diseases as the number one killer. The Utah Heart association was established to reduce death, disability, and suffering due to heart and circulatory problems through research, education and community service. Eighty percent of the funds collected from the public go into Heart Fund Ball Lower Prices The April 1 decrease results from lower prices Mountain Fuel will pay its pipeline suppliers for purchased gas, plus some lower property taxes and a decrease in the Wyoming conservation tax. The decrease could have been $97,255 more, except for a recent opinion by the Federal Power Commission, which allowed some other suppliers to charge that much more for the gas they sell to Mountain Fuel. The Federal Power Commission decision will also require Mountain Fuel to pay higher prices for gas it purchased from some independent suppliers beginning July 1. That hike will make it necessary for Mountain Fuel to seek an increase at that time. Of the 3283,003 decrease in rates, 5239,613 applies to Utah customers. The remaining 543,390 applies to Wyoming the community. Members of the Xi Alpha chapter of Beta Sigma Phi also busconducted a iness drive in the community, while the annual drive was opened with a public blood pressure clinic held in cooperation with the Bear River Health district in early February.
