Show Buzzing Bear River Lee Ann Hawkes of Brigham City and Mr. and Mrs. Preston School kids visit zoo; Famiiy attends biessing by Senneth Hawkes They certainly did enjoy themselves. Word has been received by the Arnold Hansens that Mary Atkins Hansen had a massive heart attack on Sept. 15 and was in the Dixie hospital in St. George until the 21st. She was There was alot of excitement showing on the smiling faces of the young school childen last Friday as they crowded on the bus which was to take them to the zoo in Salt Lake City. The kindergarten, first and second grades along with their teachers and room mothers and not just a few mothers took along lunches the cooks had fixed for them and spent the whole day enjoying themselves watching the animals. They returned safe and happy but tired. Dee Jay and Sharon Thompson and their two children were in Salt Lake Sunday afternoon where they attended services for the blessing and naming of Mr. Thompsons sisters new baby girl. The little one was given the lovely name, Chal-len- then removed to the in Salt Lake City. She is back in St. George and hospital recovering just fine and getting along very good with her new pacemaker. It might be interesting for Bear River people to know that her surgery was performed by the son of the late Dr. Con Jensen. Sees Folks Uarda Elwood and son of Roy spent Saturday with her parents the Arnold Hansens and her brother and family Ted Hansen. Mary Hansen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Hansen is in San Diego visiting with her sister, Vadis Jennings. Vadis was here for a week in August. She came specifically to attend the 35th Bear River High school reunion held at the Elwood Ward cultural hall on Aug. 21. Lydia Howell Clark and LaRae Christensen Nelson were other home town girls attending. Mrs. Hansen says that Mary is having such a good time enjoying herself that she has never mentioned coming home. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Layton of Roy and son visited with the Arnold and Ted Hansen families Sept. 28. Rick Hansen and family were here over the weekend and spent some time with family and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Carter Iverson and family were in Naf over the weekend. The Boyd Hawkes were out there Friday and Sunday. e. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Conger of Edmonds, Wash, were down here during the week while they were entering their son Robert in the mission home in Salt Lake City. They visited with Jerry and Shirley Iverson off and on during the week. The two ladies are sisters. We have a new business on our town. It is still called Smiths service but it is operated by John Hawes. It is open all day Saturdays and after p.m. during the week. LDS 6 Visiting, Too Ona Iverson and her mother from Ogden were up visiting the L.W. Iversons. They came up to get cucumbers and tomatoes and got some visiting in while here. Dorothy Paskett and her sister Eloise drove to Malad Tuesday evening for the viewing of their aunt Mrs. Lawrence E. Anderson. Flossie and Dewey Ramsdell took off last week for four days touring the Idaho country. They stopped first in Blackfoot and visited with Ted and Marlene Ramsdell and their family. They then drove on to Chalice, Stanely Basin, Ketchum and Sun Valley. This drive took them through the Sawtooth mountains and they said the scenery was just gorgeous and the weather was super fine. Among 91 Tammy Schmidt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Schmidt has been chosen among 91 girls to perform at a San Francisco 49ers football game on Dec. 7. The girls have been asked to take part in a fund raising campaign so that each girl may earn her own money for the California trip. They will be selling candy. In addition to a show and a half-tim- e pre-gam- e show the baton and drill teams will be performing at Safari Land and Marine Land. Tammy is the only participant going from Box Elder county. Zina Hansen is improving from recent surgery at the home of her daughter Arlene in Plain City. Dee and Dixie Ramsdel must be seeing alot of football this year because their son Joel is playing on the Bear River Junior High school team. Dick and Karen Jensen of1 Sandy visited with the Richard C. Nesslers on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Richard C. Nessler had their new baby blessed Sunday. The little boy was given the name Christian R. by his grandfather Oleen Nelson. The family all gathered afterward at the Oleen Nelson home for dinner. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Craig Christensen, Mr. and Mrs. Richard C. Nessler and family, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nelson and two children, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Porritt and family, Marilyn Nelson and boys, Ida Christensen, Brian and Kimme Nessler and family, Sandra Lewis and Shane and Nola and Dick Nessler. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Clayson and two grandsons visited with Lula R. Clayston Friday evening. Weekend Guests k Mrs. Jethro and daughter Mona of Price visited Saturday and Sunday with the Ronald Leonards, the Dwight Andersons and Mrs. Rilda Killpack of Brigham. Mrs. Rilda Killpack if recovering from a mild stroke and stays with her daughters Gaye and Pauline. Jack and Cindy Burt had their daughter named Sunday. She was named Jami Lyn by her father. After services at the church the family met at the Clinton Burt home. Steven and Susie Braegger have the given their baby the name Melissa by her grandfather Roy Braegger. Begun School Marjorie and Gary Anderson who began their school year in Logan last Tuesday at USU spent the weekend at the Ernest Huggins home. Carol Christensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mack Christensen, is attending the school of nursing at the USU. Jan Weidman daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bryon Weidman will begin her studies at Weber State this week. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Hawkes received word that their daughter Barbara Ruse and her husband Bob have left their farm in Tennessee to return to Salt Lake City for Barbara to finish her education at the University of Utah. She only has two quarters to get her degree in sociology and child development. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Arbon moved to Brigham City. They have rented a lovely apartment and do not intend to go to Arizona this winter. Hostess to Club Saturday Mrs. Arbon was hostess to her club. Mr. and Mrs. Jensen were among the guests who attended a dinner party at the Payne home following the meeting. Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Bob Brough and family of Tremonton gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Welling for a cook-ou- t. Sunday morning the High Priests held their priesthood meeting at the home of Karl Welling. Mr. Welling has been in poor health for several months. Mrs. NaVelle Rhodes of East Garland and Mrs. Alice Ward were in Ogden Friday and visited Mr. and Mrs. Owen Johnson. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. DeLoss Jensen Monday were Mrs. Tom Franklin and son Tommy of San Diego and Mrs. Adlie Johnson of Brigham City. From Wyoming Sunday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Welling were Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Welling of Evanston, Wyo. Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Johnson of Los Angeles have been spending a few days visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ted Macfarlane. Overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Macfarlane Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stephens of North Ogden. An open house was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Macfarlane Saturday evening for their son Kirk Macfarlane and his new bride Cherri Anderson. The young couple were married recently at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Gardner in Deweyville. The bride is the daughter of Billie Jean An- derson and Durell Anderson. Mrs. A. E. Birks of Granger along with her children Chris and Julane spent Saturday visiting her mother Mrs. Lenore Silvester and other relatives. Of interest to many friends of Mrs. Sandra Silvester Birks her son Ed Birks, who was serving with the Coast Guard in Petaluma, Calif., was recently home on furlough. Returning to California he was involved in a car accident which required back surgery. He also had a concussion. He is reported to be improving in a San Francisco hospital. Pierson, Florence G. Munson and Elma C. Petersen were selected by the Fielding Town Board to be this years municipal election judges. Bernadine Earl and Rowane Roundy were named as alternates at the special town board meeting which was conducted by Karl M. King, town president. The next regular meeting of the town board is scheduled for Oct. 8. Clarence Silvester and children Paul, Jennifer and John of Sanday. Lenore Mrs. Monday Silvester accompanied Mrs. Jane Udy of Plymouth to Ogden to visit their sister Mrs. Eva Zundel. |
