Show Garland gazette Granddaughter accepted to famous N.Y. ballet by Flo Munson Mrs. Venna Hess was delighted to receive news that her granddaughter Lisa Hess of New York City has been accepted as a member of the New York City Ballet the most prestigious and famous ballet company in the world. They are very selective in accepting members. Lisa is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Hess of Amarillo, Tex. Neil is a graduate of Bear River High school and Weber State college. He recently received his masters degree at the New York university. In addition to being a member of the faculty at Tascosa High school, Neil and his wife Camille own and operate one of the largest dance schools in Amar-ill- a area. Spending last weekend visiting Mrs. Venna Hess were her and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Burke (Yvonne) Petersen and family of Eureka, Nev. Mrs. Petersen and daughter Julie have just returned from a European tour. They accompanied Mrs. Beverly Petersen of Eureka (form-- 1 erly Beverly Cannon of Fielding) who was going for the purpose of meeting her son Elder David Petersen who had just completed an LDS mission in Norway. The ladies and Elder Petersen toured various countries and points of historical interest for five weeks. son-in-la- Leave for Home Mrs. Jennie Douglas and sons Arthur and David and daughter Donna Marie left Saturday for their home in San Bernardino, Calif., after spending two weeks visiting Mrs. Douglass grandparents Mr. and Mrs. O.C. Davis and other relatives in this area. Visiting Mrs. O.C. Davis during the week were Mr. and Mrs. Glen Bennett of Hawthorne, Calif. O.C. Davis returned home from the Valley hospital in Tremonton Saturday after receiving medical care for several weeks following a heart attack. Mrs. Jennie Gephart accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gephart and family of Tremonton spent Sunday visiting Mr. and Mrs. Bob Gephart and family in Bountiful. Saturday Mrs. Hazel Rose visited her parents Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Buttars in Logan. Mrs. Jennie Gephart spent the forepart of the week visiting her son and daughter-in-laMayor and Mrs. Clyde Gephart and family in Afton, Wyo. Sunday Mrs. Hazel Rose enjoyed dinner with her sister-in- -' law Mrs. Adelia Hadley in w Brigham City. Other guests were Mrs. Alta Whitaker and Julie Davis of Magna. Mrs. Ruth Shumway has returned after spending an enjoyable week in Denver visiting Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Jensen. The two ladies are sisters. Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Thompson were Mr. and Mrs. Ron Thompson and family of Pocatello. Visitors Mr. and Mrs. Bill Harris and son Bart of Shoshone, Idaho have been visiting Mrs. Harriss parents Mr. and Mrs. Russell Rogers. Buzzing Bear River Couple brings son home from vacation by Senneth Hawkes Butch and Carter Iverson drove to Naf, Idaho over the weekend to pick up their son Rex who has been having his vacation with is grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Ospital. The Ospitals were here during the week and Butch and her two children accompanied them to Ogden on a business trip. Ona and Verl Iverson were here during the week accompanied by Onas parents from Ogden. Ona visited with Butch on Tuesday too. One of Roy Lewis prize cows surprised him the other d night with twin bull calves. He said he would have been much happier if they had been heifers, however. Mrs. Daisy Duke and grandchildren Cleanne and Mark of Ogden called on Ida Christensen Wenesday morning. They took a short drive north visiting and then came back to Idas for lunch and a nice visit. Horse Rears Sylvia Grimmet was injured Tuesday evening when her horse reared back, she slid off and the horse fell on her hip. She spent two days in the hospital but was released as being alright. Frank and Ila Jensen had the ball club into his cafe Tueday evening in Brigham City. They all report as having had a great evening. Mable Burton, sister of Mary Anderson, returned to her home Friday California in after spending two weeks here with Mary and other family members and old friends. Kenneth and Dorothy Paskett were in Morgan Thursday morning visiting relatives and others up there. Jerry and Joyce Dahlberg visited with Mrs. Parley Holmgren last Tuesday after having spent quite a few days up in Montana on their vacation. They also had their children with them. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Dallin were in Logan last week on business. Have Reunion The Checketts family held their reunion at Moon Lake over the weekend. They took trailers and campers and spent three days. Reported to have had an awful lot of fun getting to see people again that they hadnt seen for quite a while. Our ball club here won the region and was able to go to Idaho Falls last Saturday. The won 4 out of 6 games in the slow peopitch division. Fifty-seve- n ple along with the coaches and players trouped to Idaho to watch the boys play excellent ball. Kelly Burt was injured during the game. His shoulder was torn out of place and the ligaments torn loose. He is going to be pretty miserable for a while but B0X Plymouth Ponderings we all send him our best wishes for a speedy recovery. The boys have finished their church games but they are still involved in the commercial games. Tuesday evening they played Garland 2nd ward in an invitational meet at Elwood. Those playing on the team are: Jack and Kelly Burt, Jim An- derson, Craig Christensen, Scott Goodliffe, Reese Burt, Don Thorsen, Dennis Huggins, Frank Huggins, Brent Hollings- worth, Dennis Cuscick and Bri- an Jensen. Clinton Burt is their coach. We are happy to report that Mrs. Lewis is on the mend. Jerry Iverson has been on the sick list the past week too. Kaye Grimmett of Salt Lake City arrived late Friday night at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Paskett and stayed over the weekend. Mrs. Grimmett is a registered nurse so Sylvia has had some extra special care while recovering from her accident. Brenda and Robert Oldfather of Kearney, Ariz., called on Mr. and Mrs. L.W. Iverson Monday. They also visited other relatives in the area. Brenda is a niece of Mrs. Iversons. Vernon Romney of Bountiful and Mrs. Garth Busuth of Salt Lake visited Saturday with the Mario Checketts family and Mr. Lula Clayson. Friday visitors at the Checketts were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Nelson of Preston, Idaho. Nice Trip John and Janyce Holmgren along with their sons Chris and Jared, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nyman Holmgren drove to the Coutler Bay, Jackson Lake and Yellowstone Park areas. They met some friends from Ogden up there and had a grand time fishing, water skiing, saw a show in Jackson Hole, visited the shops there and took many beautiful and scenic drives the area. Mrs. Holmgren did tell us that it was cold enough one night to freeze the towels they had left out on the boat to dry. Candace Holmgren has. her roommate Paula Newcombe from Manchester, N.Y., staying with her for a week before they have to report back to school for classes at the B.Y.U.
