Show t City, Utah BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham Senior citizens To Thursday, August 21, 1975 Direct deposit plan to be explained savings and loan represenwill present a series of slides explaining the direct deposit program following the Senior citizens luncheon on Friday. Paul Petersen, representing Logan Savings and Loan, will provide information on the new program that allows social security and other checks to be sent directly to a bank in the event of illness or other emergencies. The slides will be shown at 1 p.m. Menu for the 12 noon luncheon will include chicken, corn on the cob, apple sauce, cherry cake cobbler for desert, and coffee and punch. A tative reunion, and they have been held all over the United States. The last one was in Chicago and the next is scheduled for Memphis. An interesting outline of events included an evening dedicated to remembrances of their parents, the annual family ballgame at Snow Park, a visit to the Palace Playhouse, a trip to Temple Square for the broadcast and tour, and a banquet and family pictures at Sherwood Hills. This the first reunion to be hosted by a grandchild of the couple, Mrs. Linda B. Knavel, who extends best wishes to the cousin who will host the 1977 reunion in Memphis. Guests started arriving Thursday and departed Monday, with some coming from as far away as Boston, Chicago and Memphis and others from as close as California and Nevada, with the D.D. Billings family being the only one from Utah. In 944 when their parents Sam and Lona Billings died, the nine brothers and sisters agreed to hold a three-dareunion every other year. Bingo will be in the Senior lounge. Jackpot Slated Jackpot, Nev., is on the agenda for Sept. 23. Buses will leave the community penter at 9 a.m. with lunch in Burley. Cost of the trip is $9. This includes $2 in nickels, bus fare, lodging, and $1.50 on the evening meal. Eleven seats are available and fare must be paid by Sept. 16. A pool tournament has been scheduled for Aug. 26 at 10 a.m. Interested persons should sign up with Mich Petersen, president of the Spike club. A dollar entry fee is required and a free lunch will be included if enough people sign up. Membership to the center is free. All activities, classes, ceramics, crafts and a mem- bership card are available through the director of the center. Perry Pulse by Mrs. Max Nelson Registration for Perry elementary school was announced this week by Principal Johnson. Data has been set for Friday, Aug. 22 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the Perry school office. Activity fee for the coming year will be $2 per child and lunches will be 40 cents a day. Parents are encouraged to buy the childs lunch ticket in advance to help them with their bookkeeping. Also parents of kindergarten children are encouraged to pay for their childs brunch for the full year when they register. A few changes will be seen in the teaching staff this year. Mrs. Uene Tucker will return as the kindergarten teacher;, Mrs. Johnson will return to thej first grade; Mrs. Virginia will teach the second ' grade and half of the third with Mrs. Lois Thorne teaching the other half of the third and the fourth. Big Difference The big difference will be the split third grade but parents have been reassured that the teachers will work together and students of the third grade will be given the same assignments and class work. It really seems that the students are anxious for the school bells to ring out on Wednesday as the parents are. This summer has really gone fast but the children are ready to return to the classrooms. In the Perry First ward Sunday evening, the ward Relief society and young ladies organizations were reorganized. Mrs. Velva Greenhalgh was released as president of the Relief society with Mrs. Zina Petersen and Mrs. Carol Reeder as counselors and Mrs. Doris Nelson as secretary. Mrs. Janace Nelson was released as president of the young ladies activity program. Mrs. Daylene Jeffs was sustained as the new president of this organization. Victor Motors has announced the addition of LaRae Brown Marshall to its sales staff. Mrs. Brown will sell both new and used cars and trucks for the Brigham City dealership. A former resident of Brigham City, she attended Box Elder High school and is thrilled to be working in Brigham City for Victor Motors. She is married to Leon Marshall.
