Show 1 0 BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, Utah Mantua Meanderings Thursday, August 21, 1975 Homemaker isn't a housewife Aug. 5 was the wedding day for Mary Jane Lemon Lee and Ronald Gustaveson. They were married in a ceremony presided over by Bishop David Giddes from the Ogden 53rd ward at the home of Roy and Helen Jane Lemon. For her garden wedding the bride was attired in a pink floor length gathered nylon organza dress. Her wrist length sleeves were accented by ruffles and a bow was tied at the back of her cumberbund. She wore a pink hat with a band of live flowers and carried a bridal bouquet of roses and carnations. Matron of Honor Janes sister, Barbara Ann Felt served as matron of honor with Craig Lee as the ring bearer. Bishop Dale Gustaveson was the best man. After the ceremony the bride and groom greeted a few relatives and close friends while Mrs. Elaine Leggat played the organ and Kathleen Bott Martin sang The Rest of My Life, The Second Time Around and while reLiving Together, freshments were served. After a y honeymoon in Canada the couple are making their new home in Ogden at 3242 Van Buren. Ten boys and their leaders spent a week at Camp Lowell in Idaho. The boys included Tracy Spencer, Allan Dowdle, Rick Thomas, Tracy Zundel, Kenny Lemon, Mark Christensen, Nathan Warren, Aron Hunsa-keTroy Karlinsey and Danny Woodyatt. The leaders were LeRoy Dowdle and Virgil Special thansk go to Helen and Gizzelle Pettingill and Tom Christensen for providing rides to and from the camp. Mary End Result Of course, but the end result of a homemakers dream is not simply a house in perfect order with every speck of dirt banished and every bit of clutter gone. All the closets are in apple pie order and all the drawers are organized in alphabetical files in a housewife's house. A homemaker strives to make the place she lives a home for her and her family. If a school book is left on the end table nearest the front door or a catchers mitt is found on the closet floor, she doesnt faint ad run for the scrub bucket. A homemaker is clean and tidy, but a dirty face on a four year old is not as important as the sand castle he built to go with the story she read. And an orderly room is not nearly so important as the people who live in it. Her home is orderly but not spotless. Her children are warm and open hearted because she has time to be a friend to them. Her husband will come home to a good meal and a relaxed family. ment meeting with the Kunzlers and then went to their home for refreshments. Pictures were taken and tape recordings were made for the two family missionaries David Kelley in Thiang mai, Thailand and Keith Kunzler in Auckland, New Zealand. Released In the First ward Sacrament meeting Carol Woodland was released as the choir director. LuDene Young was sustained in that position and Elva Blacker was sustained as the music chairman. It was a farewell for Holly Mund who enters the mission home Sept. 13 in Salt Lake City. From there she will go to Little Rock, Arkansas Mission. As the first speakers Harvey and Melba, her parents, spoke on the importance of keeping free from sin and how lucky we were to live in a land that was settled for us. Callene and Melanie Mund sang a duet. They sang Our Best to You and May The Good Lord Bless and Keep You and were accompanied by Holly Mund. Michelle B. Mund spoke next. It is funny the things we take for granted until suddenly we do not have them. The doctor kept cheering me on and repeatedly told me that everything returns to normal but I could not believe him until it actually did. Best Things Now, I know why they say the best things in life are the little things and free. It is one thing to be healthy but poor; it is quite another thing to be poor and an operation. Well, you probably all know all this but it is news to me having lived in Mantua for such a short duration and I thought that maybe some of the newcomers would like to know, also. Here is wishing Ethel as speedy a recovery as possible. I saw Donell Jeppsen, a fun and she showed me her lovely new granddaughter which makes her a grandmother of a boy and now a girl. What more could one want. Other Jeppsens in the news are: Pauline met Wednesday night at Maddox for dinner with some old fun friends. I called Dorothy and Herm Jeppsen and found the Charles Kellers visiting for an hour or so before on to Lagoon. Ralph and Eva Jeppsen had their daughter and husband visiting from Las Vegas, Robert and Margene Isaacson and their two sons Blake and Ron. Marriages and engagements should be next. A new one in the unhealthy. One of the things I was able to do at the hospital was to visit with Ethel who was across the hall. I feel so bad about her fall. Ethel really is quite a dynamic woman. She is very alert and with the program even at her age. I would believe that comes with the posterity she has had to keep up with. She originally was from Willard. She came up here in Deweyville Dateline 1915 to teach school, and her Wallace snapped up, as the next year in 1916, we find her married to a Mantua-ite- , and she has stayed here ever since with him. Congratulations to both these couples. Marriage news is that of Kathy Palazzolos sister, Dorothy Lange who has been here visiting, took part in a marriage ceremony performed in the mountains. Reverand Tom Vance performed the ceremony, with Dorothy as bride. The groom was Ray Remo, New York City native, but now of Brigham City. (A small difference of places there.) She is one who places the people who live in the house, before the organization of that dwelling. She works hard at housekeeping as well as all the little things that change a house into a home. And in the process she becomes a great and beautiful person. And thats just what I want to be called because its a title Im very proud of . . . homemaker. And I tried to explain but although he changed it to homemaker in the end, he made a nutty one motion to his colleague. So, let me try again for you, my friend, and this time if you still think Im nuts, let your wife read it and maybe she can explain it to you. I am proud to be a homemaker, but Im not a housewife. There is a difference you know. A housewife does that mundane and dreary chore called housework.
