Eagleburger, former Monticello resident, proudly tells us that his first cousin, Lawrence Eagleburger, has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate to the No. 2 position at by Marilyn Manning, UP&L Since the winter snows have melted and the April winds blow, the will young-at-hea- rt now have the urge to feel the tug of a kite string while the kite soars hundreds of feet above them. A family outing could be planned for a day of kite flying so pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the thrill of being out in nature and soaring with a kite. This activity always remains a concern for the electric companies. Electricity provides us with the power to make wonderful things happen but it is also very powerful and it can kill. Most accidents happen because of carelessness. Many people dont realize the danger of being negligent around electricity, especially when out-of-door- A s. statement to commit to memory to remind us of the danger is: Ill keep things away from that line overhead, or in a split second I could be dead. Spectacular view of miles of beautiful irrigated land with mountain back drop. Best in country living. Huge home on 5 acres. Corrals, Pege 15 with children when flying kites are: (1) Always look up and around when you plan to fly a kite. As you look up, look for storm clouds that might be gathering. If they are gray and of a stormy nature (nimbo stratus clouds), these indicate storm and kite flying should be postponed until a sunshiny day. Look around you for power lines and tall trees that kites might become entangled. Look for a wide open field with few obstructions. Kite flying then can be enjoyed with no worry about risking an injury or death. (2) Choose kite string that is 100 percent cotton, nylon, or polyester. Some strings contain a metallic thread and should not be used for flying a kite. These materials can easily become a good conductor of electricity. This can create a very dangerous situation - so please check to make sure this kind of string is not being used for flying kites. (3) If kites become entangled in a power line or a tree close to a power line, call the local electrical utility for assistance. Do not try to get it down yourself. The risk is too great. (4) Look at the ground you are standing on. Is it wet or dry. Remember water and electricity are the worst of enemies and will fight furiously when they come in contact with each other. Water is a good conductor of electricity. So become aware of a wet soggy field, or puddles, or wet shoes. If you would like more information about electrical safety, stop by a local Utah Power & Light Company office and request the booklet on electrical safety. Observing these safety rules will make for hours of kite many fun-fille- d flying. arena and other goodies. mobile 78. Three-bdrhome on .45 acres. $15,500. Will sell mobile home separately. 90.
