She has so many offers from colleges and universities her head is spinning. schools have expressed an interest in recruiting Tara. Offers have come from all over the United States. Libby Vienna Sausage. such distinguished schools as Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and the Air Force and Naval academies, as well as the University of Utah, Brigham Young University, and other Utah schools. Two more recruiting trips are one to the Univerplanned sity of Nevada at Las Vegas and one to the University of Washington in Seattle. The petite redhead ran her first race when she was in the fourth grade. It was a church sponsored event and she surprised herself by being the first girl to .cross the finish line, just behind a boy and the teacher. In the next two years she moved up, outrunning the boy and then the teacher. She became serious about running in the seventh grade and since then has competed in and won numerous races. In 1988 she set a record for high school runners by completing the 3200 meter in 11:28.9 and the 1600 meter in 5:15.9 Her personal best is 10:32 for the 3000 meter. Tara tries to train six days per week, using a mix of running and track workouts. Her staunchest supporter is her father, Mel, who attended Dixie College on a track scholarship and knows the rewards and the dangers of running. The body needs the right toning or problems occur, such as happened to Tara. She lost a few months in 1987 when she suffered a jtress fracture and had to have surcross-countr- y undoubtedly will run into something good. Stanley Norman Lyman of Blanding has been called to serve in the Lisbon Portugal Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. He is the son of Norman Stanley and Margie Lyman; the grandson of Stanley and Ruth Lyman; and the grandson of the late Carol P. Lyman, and the late Riley and Trudie Swanson.
