For the Seniors, it was another busy month starting with a picnic at City Park on Each Monday, August, 1. brought hisher own lunch and the Center furnished the lemonade. At the health program on 3, a large group attended. It was mostly a business meeting. On Wednesday, August 10, a fair sized group attended recreation day at the Center. Most Seniors attended the San Juan County Fair and agreed it was the best in years. August Social security Maughan C. Wright and Karla Dawn Black Temple wedding Dale and Liz Black of Monti-cellare pleased to announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Karla Dawn, to Maughan C. Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Wright of Nephi, Utah and Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Richards of Ogden, Utah. Karla and Maughan will exchange wedding vows on September 16 in the Manti Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-daSaints. They will be honored at an open house that evening in Nephi. A reception in their honor will be held on Saturday, September 17, at the LDS Stake Center in Monti-cellfrom 7 to 9 p.m. Friends o y Karla, a graduate of Monti-cellHigh, completed an Associate Degree at Utah Valley Community College. She is employed at First Security Bank in Provo. Maughan, a graduate of Nephi High School, attended Snow College in Ephraim, o Utah. He filled an LDS Mission in Winnipeg, Canada. He is now attending Brigham Young University. The couple will make their home in Provo. A representative of the Social Security Administration will be in Blanding from 10 a.m. to noon at Social Services, 22 North 1st East on: September 8 and 22 The representative will be in Monticello at the court house beginning at 10 a.m. on: Thursday, September 15 On the 17th, a good sized crowd attended an excellent business meeting at the Senior Center. On the 19th a busload enjoyed a trip to Indian Creek, returning home early because of the extreme heat. The potluck on August 24 was a big success. After a tasty repast, the group was at entertained by Hortense Rice the piano, and Doyle Rowleys brother (who was visiting) on the harmonica. They played old time favorite melodies. One of the highlights of the month was a trip to Farming-ton- , New Mexico on August 25 to see the Anasazi Pageant. The Monticello Seniors were recognized and honored by the announcer. On Friday the 31st, a number of Seniors went to the nursing home in Blanding for a visit with the residents. Hortense Rice played old time songs on the piano for their enjoyment. Bowling was alive and well during August with four trips to Moab by the Monticello Seniors.
