Short stories, articles and experiences must not exceed 2500 words; poems must not exceed 50 lines; and music entries should include either piano or organ accompaniment. Entries must be postmarked no later than June 30, 1988, and must be original work and not previously published. Jordan District plans Utah may have its first high schools in the near year-roun- d future. Just last year, the Jordan School District announced plans to build three new elementary schools and two new high schools, according to Utah Taxpayer bulletin. Now, given the current economic climate, the district has decided to move to secondary schools and to pay current bonded indebtedness year-roun- d before undertaking another building program. The move to year-roun-d high schools will require an ex- - UP&L reduces rates Light Co. and Utah state utility regulators have agreed to a rate reduction for the companys Utah customers. Power & The rate reduction, which initially amounts to about two percent, took effect April 1. A typical residential customer will save about $10 per year. The reduction must be reviewed and approved by the state Public Service Commis- sion. This is the second UP&L rate reduction this year. In January, the company reduced its Utah rates one percent. Both rate reductions came about through discussions with the states Division of Public Utilities and Committee of Consumer Services. Technically, the reductions were made through the companys Energy Balancing Acg tool that count a allows the company and regulators to monitor constantly changing prices of fuel and purchased power. This account may be adjusted again in the future when the state Public rate-settin- Service Commission holds hearings. As an addition to the publi-catiothe Relief Society wants to include poems written about Monticello or the Horsehead, regardless of who the poet is. Relief Society offices encourage anyone having such poems to please submit them for inclusion in the planned publication.
