Show - Page Provo District Loses 382 Years Experience Retirements Alpine Educator To End Dr. Cecil R. Hansen, UTC Recognizes Six Retirees Utah Technical College at Provo Orem recently honored six employees, who will retire from the college, for their long-tim- e service and excellence as professionals, according to President J. Marvin Higbee. Lynn Asay, Orem; Blanche Miller, Provo; Matilda (Tillie) Thom- years. While at the college she worked as a sales clerk, cashier, payroll clerk, accounting technician, accountant and assistant. Thomas, who will retire as secretary for the Purchasing Warehouse and Stores area, has been with the college for 17 years. She was also a secretary in the Purchasing Department. Smith, who will serve as assistant dean of Continuing and Extended Day Education until Aug. 15, has been at the college for 11 years. She was recently honored as the Administrator of the Year. An office manager for the Business Office, Reynolds has been at the college for 11 years. She has served as secretary and office manager for several departments. LeBaron, warehouse procurement technician, has been with the college for ten years. He has worked as night watchman, custodian and in the warehouse while at as, American Fork; Barbara Smith, Provo; Erma 0. Reynolds, Provo; and Wendall LeBaron, Pay-sowere included in a special honors banquet. Asay has been a drivers' education instructor for 26 years, has a B.S. from Brigham Young University and has taught "Citizens' Training" for 3rd District Court in Provo. While at the college he served as department chairman and has also taught in the professional driving program. Miller, assistant to the Personnel Director for Benefits and Special Projects, served the college for 20 Match Ends UTC. After 36 years of service to public education, all in the Alpine School District, Dr. Quinn Hatch will retire at the! end of this school year. He is Ad-- Orem from 1955 to 1959. He was a classroom teacher at Lincoln High School in English, Social Studies, Health and Literature from 1948 to 1955. Hatch received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from the Brigham Young University and a Doctorate in Educational Administration from the University of Utah. He has served as the President of the Secondary Principals e Association of Utah, is a member of the National Education Association, and has received the "Outstanding Artist's" award from the Utah State Board of Education. Hatch's philosophy of education has consisted in "bringing light to students' lives." After retirement he plans on spending more time with his family and with his artistic endeavors and travel. Hatch and his wife live in Orem. At that time he was named as principal at Harrington Elementary where he stayed until 1966. He then took over the principalship of Shelley Elementary in American Fork where he remained until 1980. He has been an administrator in the district's central office since that time.
