This poem is typical of her stvle but not entirely representative for she has many styles but no single modus operandi. Take for example her entirely different technique in the humorous poem "Rocky Mountain Tea" from the same publication: If somebody took sick those davs We didn't call a nurse. We didn't call a hospital. We didn't call a hearse. We had a cure that did the trick And I remember yet For weakening knees or stomach ache. Whatever thing I'd get The panacea for it all Was an herb not fit to eat Gathered on the hillside By our plump Ann Jane Van Fleet And brewed and stuffed into a pot And then poured into me I held my nose and curled my toes, 'Twas Rocky Mountain Tea. And the effectiveness of her brew is guaranteed as she concludes: And so it did tne trick each time. It cleaned us inside out; And if we ever ever got the blahs, The sniffles or the gout, Our Auntie Jane was quicker than A gambler in a draw. Right on the spot She brewed the pot That cleaned us like a straw.
