Won't Probe Rosonbloom Death f' The not into the LOS ANGELES (UPI) U.S. Justice Department will ml .' pursue an investigation drowning death of Los Angeles Rams owner Carroll Rosenbloom, a county official said today. County Supervisor Kenneth Hahn had asked U.S. Attorney General William French Smith to investigate the April 1979 death off Golden Beach, Fla., following a Public Broadcasting Service TV rsw 7 '?s Www i C r " 1, , v show earlier this year suggesting Rosenbloom was murdered. Dan Wolf, a spokesman for Hahn, said the supervisor was informed by Smith's office, "There are no facts at this time that would warrant an investigation." The PBS special suggested that Rosenbloom was pulled below the surf by a man wearing a black wetsuit. .llf Trent Healey Justin Shurtleff Darrin Williams SALT PALACE o MARCH 16-2- 0 4 BIG SHOWS IN ONE BOATS AND RV'S GALORE FISHING TACK LEI CYCLE EXPO '83 TRAVEL OUTDOOR CLINICS ALL STAR STAGE SHOW Admission: Adults $2.50, Juniors $1.00, Under 7 Free. (UPI) Terry Kennedy has few if any illusions about himself. Ask him to describe his catching abilities and he goes into a long speech on how much work he has to do. Ask him about his hitting and he says it's okay bui. he has a ways to go to be among the best. And being the best is paramount in Kennedy's mind, even though last year he made only seven errors in 153 games, batted .295, hit 21 homers and drove in 97 runs. Lollar won 16 games for the Padres ,in 1982 to rank as their best pitcher. Show and John won 10 each, DeLeon had nine victories and Dravecky had Mon-tefus- co four. "We did better last year than a lot of people thought because we hustled from the first day of the season to the last," says Kennedy. "For that you have to give the manager a lot of credit. We all feel he has us on the right track and while I won't say we will win h division, I wouldn't count us out aither." ML V Ken Jenson I si.. "I'm a hitter trying to be a catcher. If I couldn't hit, I'd have a 9 to 5 job. I've got a long way to go before I call myself a catcher." Kennedy explains by saying he was third to last in the National League last year in throwing out base runners. "I have to work on that," he says, "and I have to learn to call a game better. I can improve in both categories as long as they send me out there. In catching, as in most other things, experience is the best teacher." That may be so but there are some catchers who reach a certain level and never get any better. Kennedy is not in that class, at least not in San Diego Padres manager Dick Williams' mind. "He worked very hard to improve himself last year, and he made progress,'-- ' says Williams. "I'm not going to worry too much about him. He knows where he has to improve and he will." Kennedy says the addition of Steve Garvey should help him and Sixto Lezcano more than anyone else. Lezcano was the only other Padre last year to hit with any authority 16 homers and 84 RBI. "Some of the heat will be off of us," he says. "It would be better if all three of us, Sixto, Steve and I, had 80 RBI than two of us to have 100." Kennedy says the Padres could be better than they were a year ago when they won 81 games to finish eight games behind the N.L. West champion Atlanta Braves.
