The number of scouts in the Utah program should grow from 28,387 at the end of 1979 to more than 49,512 in 1989. Membership growth will be the most dramatic in the northern end of the the Uintah council's service area Basin and along the Wasatch Front. Volunteer service is one of the most important aspects of the scout movement. More than 10,500 volunteers give about two million hours of service annually to young men in Utah.
