Show Page HERALD, Provo, Utah, Sunday, August 25, 36-- THE 1974 Ask the Cooler Catherine Craig to Wed Donald Findlay in Rites About Green Tomato Pickles By NAN WILEY Dear Nan: My grandmother used to make a green tomato pickle which was very good and I am wondering if some of your readers happen to have that recipe. All I remember about them is that through the entire process they were never heated and therefore could not be sealed in a jar. She kept them in a large crockery jar with a plate and a weight on top to hold them under the vinegar solution. As I recall, she soaked them in brine first for a period of time. The Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Craig of Orem announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Catherine to Donald J. Findlay, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ross P. Findlay of Ephraim. The couple will be married this Wednesday in the Manti LDS Temple. They will be honored the same evening at an open house at the home of the bridegroom's parents in Ephraim. only ingredients I remember her adding to the vinegar solution were chunks of fresh horseradish and some white mustard seed although there must have been other things. They were not sweet ptekles. When ready the tomatoes were rather tough and chewy but absolutely delicious. Bette Hagaman. Sheridan, Wyo. Telling the Truth By HELEN AND SUE BOTTEL DEAR HELEN AND SUE: I'm not really sure who has the worst problem, me or my friend. She is constantly lying to everyone about everything, and I really think she's so used to lying she doesn't realize she's doing it. She has boyfriends and is very popular and outgoing. Also pretty. But those lies! For instance, she was running a race in track and suddenly she stopped, claiming she had lost her contacts. She doesn't wear contacts!
