Wyatt Pike Berklee Music Program Benefit Park City’s Wyatt Pike, 16, who has performed all over Park City, has received a partial scholarship to Berklee College of Music’s five-week performance program in Boston, Massachusetts. Park City Film Series Books 2 Movies ‘April and the Extraordinary World’ The Park City Film Series Books 2 Movies program will present free screenings of Christian Desmares and Franck Ekinci’s “April and the Extraordinary World” at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, at the Park City Library’s Jim Santy Auditorium, 1255 Park Ave. The animated film, winner of the Cristal Award, is about a family of scientists who is on the brink of discovering a powerful longevity serum. One day, a sudden and mysterious force abducts them, leaving their young daughter, April, behind. Ten years later, April (voiced by Academy Award-nominee Marion Cotillard) lives alone with her dear cat, Darwin, and carries on her family’s research in secret. But she soon finds herself at the center of a shadowy and far-reaching conspiracy, and on the run from government agents, bicycle-powered dirigibles and cyborg rat spies. Monday, May 15 CONNECT Summit County ‘Journey of Hope: Healing Trauma During Wartime’ CONNECT Summit County, a nonprofit that raises awareness of mental health issues, will welcome Dr. Omar Reda at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 15, at the Park City Hospital’s for a discussion on the traumatic implications of immigration, even to a safe place. The Portland Refugee Support Group, Reda’s team in Portland, OR has established a comprehensive approach to refugee trauma that has been very helpful and serves as a model to fill crucial gaps in delivering the best standards of care to this underserved and at-risk population. Tuesday, May 16 Brainstorm Film Festival Screening: ‘Alzheimer’s Every Minute Counts’ CONNECT Summit County, a nonprofit that raises awareness of mental health issues, will present a free screening of Elizabeth Arledge’s “Alzheimer’s Every Minute Counts” at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, at the Park City Library’s Jim Santy Auditorium, 1255 Park Ave. The documentary examines the impact of the disease on the patients and their caregivers. Wednesday, May 17 CONNECT Summit County Kevin Hines: ‘Cracked Not Broken, Surviving and Thriving after a Suicide Attempt’ CONNECT Summit County, a nonprofit that raises awareness of mental health issues, will welcome filmmaker, activist and suicide-attempt survivor Kevin Hines at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, at the Park City Library’s Jim Santy Auditorium, 1255 Park Ave. Hines will give a presentation titled, “Cracked Not Broken, Surviving and Thriving after a Suicide Attempt.” In September 2000, Hines jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge and is one of the less than 1 percent who survived.
