Show ARMED FORCES DAY JATURDAY A massive display of modern military weapons and equipment, including miissiles and aircraft, will be placed on exhibit on Armed Forces Day at Hill AFB, Saturday, May 21. Open house at the big Utah air base will be from I 0 a.m. to 3 p.m. Missiles to be shown include the BOMARC, a surface-to-air supersonic super-sonic weapon with a range of from 200 to 400 miles and a ceiling of more than 68.000 feet; the SNARK, an intercontinental guided missile with a range of more than 5,500 miles; a N1KE-AJAX supersonic surface-to-air weapon designed to intercept and destroy enemy bomber bomb-er aircraft at short range, and a FALCON air-to-air guided missile, 1 fired at supersonic speeds by interceptor in-terceptor aircraft. Aircraft to be placed on exhibit include the F-100, F-I0I and F-102 supersonic interceptors, B-47 four-jet four-jet bomber used by the Strategic Air Command, B-57 bomber, and the giant C-124 Globemaster cargo aircraft. One of the hiighlights of the aircraft air-craft exhibit will be the F-104 Star-fighter. Star-fighter. One of the fastest aircraft in the free world, the F-104 climbs as fast as it travels in level flight. It is known for its short, thin wings which measures 7lt feet from tips to fuselage. Other items on display include medium and light tanks, mortars, artillery, signal equipment and scores scor-es of other item in the armed forc- . et' arsenal. Designed for the kids will be a I "Disneyland" typo train that will cruise the exhibit area throughout the day giiving the youngsters free rides. Joining with Hill AFB in the open house will be Utah General Depot, Tooele Ordnance Depot, Naval Supply Sup-ply Depot, Clearfield, Dugway Proving Prov-ing Grounds, Utah National Cuard, Marine Corps Training Center in Ogden, armed services recruiting agencies, Utah defense contractors, and several governmental agencies. |
