But residents of Box Elder County's jail as well as the people paid to put them there can do just that. The jail has a new exercise machine, donated by the father of a former jail occupant. Sheriff Art Redding said the equipment was donated at a cost of $530 by a Brigham City man whose son once had the misfortune to be incarcerated in the facility. The machine is attached to a wall in the prison day room where prisoners can make use of it as well as y deputies. Sheriff Art Redding said the benefactor originally offered to purchase a pool table for the day room, but he discouraged that. The new machine has off-dut- "many facets", Redding said. Besides allowing prisoners to work out and keep in shape during their stay, it also provides an outlet for them to "blow off steam."
