No m H U EAST TREMONTON On October 30, 1975, Continental Telephone Company of Utah (which has since been merged into Continental Telephone Company of the West); filed an application with the Public Service Commission of Utah for authority to increase its rates for local service within the State of Utah. Continental Telephone alleges by its application that its rates are not adequate to enable it to earn a fair rate of return and to maintain its financial integrity. The Applicant provides services generally in the areas of San Juan, Millard and Box Elder Counties. The total increase requested within the State of Utah is $551,588, or an average 40 per cent increase in local service revenues, including recurring and charges. It is not practical to set forth in this notice all of the proposed changes of the Applicant. However, in general, the Applicant proposes to increase monthly service charges for business telephone service in the area of 33 to 115 per cent; single party residential service charges from service from 6 to 231 per 16 to 45 per cent; multi-part- y connection and service cent; charges from 167 to 300 per cent. The Applicant proposes to charge $2.25 for business extensions and $1.25 for residence extensions. Numerous other charges would also be increased. For further information concerning the proposed changes in a particular rate or rates, copies of the application are on file at the office of the Public Service Commission, 330 East 4th South Street, Salt Lake City, Utah 84111, and at all local business offices of the Applicant.
