Show Economic Rip Off s Are Subject Of League Talk Guest speaker at the meeting of the Tremonton Women's Civic League last week was Dr. Paul Randall, Associate Professor of Business Administration at Utah State University. He discussed the book "The Screwing of Common Man", and explained his views on how the American public is being "ripped off" economically. The Western States Conference of National Federated Women's Clubs will be held in Salt Lake City March 11, 12 and 13, and a motion was made that the club pay the registration and one meal for members wishing to attend. Everyone was urged to go to this conference. Mildred Shumway reported from the Women's Legislative Council, and discussed the state benchland control. The public service department discussed the women's facilities at the Utah State Prison. There is space for 25 residents, and they now have 31. A mobile home has been brought in to take care of them. There has been a 218 percent increase in women's crimes in the state, and 600 Utah women are on probation at this time. , Blessed Hope Is Mestsge Lent Observance Planned This Sunday, March 14, the second Sunday in Lent, the 11 a.m. service of worship at the Community Un- ited Methodist Church, 207 North Tremont Street, Tremonton, will include the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper. The Chancel Choir will sing the anthem hymn and assist throughout the service with responses and choral readings. The worship theme will focus upon the meaning of Lent and include a description of the ministry of Jesus as he led his followers toward Jerusalem. Young people, Junior High age or younger, who would like to participate in a "Sing Out" group sponsored by the Community United Methodist Church' are invited to attend rehearsals every Friday afternoon, 4 p.m. at the home of Jim and Elaine Dressback, 677 West 1st South, in Sandalwood, Tremonton. The next "Faith Exploration Workshop" will be held Saturday, April 3rd, 6 p.m. at the Church. Mrs. Fran Harrod of St. Michael's Episcopal Church will again serve as facilitator of this event designed to enable each participant to experience a deeper and renewed understanding of the Christian Faith. The last event of this kind included EpiscoCatholic, palian, Roman American Baptist, and United Methodist participants. The LanSirs started out the agenda with a jazz festival at the University of Utah last Thursday. Various jazz bands from the Salt Lake area participated in the festival, under the direction of Henry Wolking, head of the U of U jazz department.
