The summer program, now in its fifth year, is intended to recognize those military family housing residents who give the extra effort to enhance the appearance of their quarters. Every MFH resident is encouraged to participate, but the base is the ultimate winner. Winners for the month of May were: Area A1C Joe Macias, 322 Vampire SSgt. Robert Tornblom, 323 Vampire SSgt. Ralph Berg, 324 Vampire SSgt. Marcos Garcia, 325 Vampire Sgt. Elliot Williams, 326 Vampire The May award for Area C was presented to a group of families who beautified their entire street with a community effort. The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Division will foot the bill for winners' dinners at the Noncommissioned Officers' Club or the Officers' Club. Under the Outstanding Military Tenant part of the program, Housing Referral asks area landlords to send the office letters acknowledging good tenants. Housing Referral keeps track of the letters received and forwards them to the commanding officers of the military members for unit recognition. Robert D. Waite, chief, Housing Management Branch, said that more than 70 letters have been received over the past year from the office list of about 200 owners and managers in the program. "Exceptional" and "excellent" ratings result in letters of appreciation. Two military members recently recognized as great tenants include a lieutenant and a sergeant with the 388th Tactical Fighting Wing. 1st Lt. Donald Mabry, operations section, was selected by the Sun Valley Apartments. He received a gift certificate good for dinner for two at a restaurant in Layton. SSgt. Patrick Fennig, Aircraft Generation Squadron, was also selected by Sun Valley Apartments and received dinner for two. Within reason, gets along well with other tenants. 5. Is cooperative in accepting necessary changes in policy. 6. Overall behavior sets an example for other tenants, both military and civilian.
