Tim Barrett 2849th Security Police Squadron A white plastic picnic table valued at $150 was stolen from outside building 1254 sometime between Aug. 1 and 4. Police continue to investigate the theft of scrap metal by a suspect who had reportedly also purchased some of the scrap. The suspect told police he would return the items taken. A civilian base employee was charged with theft after a CRIMESTOP caller reported that two employees had taken garbage bags and tissues from building 205. The suspects were stopped in their vehicle and a search revealed one box of tissues. Investigation turned up a missing carburetor and distributor cap and the suspects said they were checking over the car because it was for sale. He subsequently failed a field sobriety test and an intoxilyzer test registered a blood alcohol content of .11 percent. Security police stopped a base employee for speeding while he was driving in the parking lot near building 517 on Aug. 13. The driver refused a field sobriety test. An intoxilyzer test registered a blood alcohol content of .19 percent. A military member was apprehended on Aug. 13 for suspicion of an open container of alcohol in his vehicle. A can of beer reportedly spilled onto the floorboard when police stopped the car. Miscellaneous A wallet found in Ogden and another found at the base Famcamp were turned over to security police this week. A resident of Hamilton Street told police that someone had attempted to break into his house by cutting the screen on a master bedroom window on Aug. 9. A military member was charged with reckless driving after he rolled his car near building 242 on Aug. 12. The car was westbound on Redwood Street and failed to negotiate a left turn onto Service Road. No injuries were reported. Damages are estimated at $2,500. Security police responded to a residence on Bedford Circle Aug. 14 when they received a call that a prowler was in the area. Two neighbors got in a verbal argument when one sprayed the other's dog with a garden hose. Road to close Wherry Street from South Foulois Drive to family housing area C will be closed for about 30 days due to new road construction. Vehicles entering and leaving area C must use the gate on the north side of the housing area via Rough Street. Need crossing guards School crossing guards' are needed for traffic at patrol-in- the intersection of 6th and Cam- bridge streets while students are going to and coming home from school.
