Show Page 26 HILL TOP TIMES 1980 September 5, Shipping Fido? Check laws first Limits change f9 on some upland game Many base hunters are now actively participating in the upland game season. The dove hunt is now in full swing and will run through Sept. 30. Sage grouse, forest grouse, chukar, hungarian partridge, cottontail rabbits, showshoe hares and wild turkeys will begin taking cover when that season begins on Sept. 30. Pheasant and quail season will start Nov. 1. According to Allan B. Nash of the Davis County Conservation Office, there are major differences in the 1980 upland proclamation and all base hunters should be aware of them. Sage grouse limits in some areas have been increased by one bird while forest grouse hunters will be allowed four birds daily, which is no change from last year. Chukar hunters will be allowed five birds a day. However, the entire portion of Davis County will be closed on Nov. 30 this year. Several counties Grand, Morgan and closed to quail hunting Summit are entirely this year. These are just a few of the changes Mr. Nash indicated and all hunters should abide by the proclamation and read it over carefully to adhere to the rest. As a last reminder, officials in the base Safety Office say, "Be careful. Let only the bird be the victim."
