Show September 5, ClnA)lAA)(on)(ols logistics officials requested a total redesign of the mobility bins last December and with the approval of Headquarters Air Force and the Air Force Logistics Command, Air agency engineers at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio, were tasked to design the new family modular bin in June. It will improve airlift space utilization by at least 40 percent. A contract for building the newly designed bin is to be awarded in early 1981. That summer, TAC will participate in service testing the prototype bins. "Once testings end," said Captain Morris, "then mass production should begin late that year." The total cost of the program will be about $16 million. Preliminary estimates predict a 30 to 50 percent airlift savings for movement of war readiness spare kits.TAC Force-packagin- C-1- is Your g -- B-2- - Headquarter SatDtt&Ot For Zocchi, the magician, dynamic master at oriental wizardry, and Woody, his mahogany sidekick, will provide entertainment and spellbinding enchantment when they appear at the Youth Center tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. All youth are Invited to attend and a 50 cent admission fee will be charged. War readiness spare kits are presently moved in the same metal bins that were designed in the early 1950s to be airlifted in the bomb bay of the 9 aircraft. However, new operations developed and cargo handling and aircraft changed with time. "But the mobility bins remained the same," explained Capt. Charles R. Morris, TAC special operations program manager. "The bin was useful when it was designed, but is now inefficient with today's only 50 to 70 transportation airlift system is of available space being used in percent the or aircraft," he said.
