Peters. I know that you were doing everything that could possible pos-sible be done. We are so dependant upon each other. It is wonderful that we can depend upon each other and everyone, well, nearly everyone, cooperates and is willing to do his full share. I hope that our new well will be pumping water and lots of it very soon. We hope .hat we will not have to face the water shortage again. Yet, it could happen. You know we depend upon the people of Utah Power and Light to furnish us the power to run the pumps to get the water into the lines. As all of you know the days of the water ditch, the creeks, and the water buckets are all in the past. Thanks to all of you, Mayor F. Haws Durfey So Sorry, But it Was a Proven Fact You never miss the water in the well until the pumps stop pumping. Suddenly-no water.not even for a drink. The kids start crying for water while others need the lavatory facilities. What can you do in these terrible and dire situations. Well, it happened. Many families fam-ilies experienced this situation for the first time. Some of you did not go thirsty, you Just went to your storage shelves and there .it was- water, just waiting to quench some thirsty soul. Do -you believe in the storage pro- ; gram now? At any rate all of the problems encountered were beyond the control con-trol of anyone. It did happen and all of us (city officials and employees) felt very bad about the situation, especially city councilam Joe and Letha Hanson. Han-son. You know, they live up on the nob hill area also. I went to their place about mid-night to find both of them very serious but understanding. I ask for a drink but was refused. Can you imagine councilman Hanson refusing re-fusing anyone a drink of water? Well he did and I was under standing because there was no water. I received many exciting telephone tele-phone calls asking what we were going to do. I know that I had a poor answer but I was help less. However, I appreciated all of your kindness and patience toward the whole problem. Thanks a million. Howard Peters, our water man, did not rest for three days and For most of us the poor people's peo-ple's march is to the payroll window.
