F. ladles riding club, the Bridlettes, participated In the 4th cf July parade Thursday at Provo. Winning first place in the riding club division, a trophy and a check for $75.00 was presented pre-sented to the club. Second place went to the Roughouts, a trophy and a $50.00 and third place to the Utah County Sheriff s Posse atrophy and $25.00 New active members riding with the club are: Lynne Hut-chlngs, Hut-chlngs, Diane Newman, Esther Hutchlngs, and Cindy Smith. Shs also graduated from Utah Technical College in business and secretarial secre-tarial courses. While in high school, she was affiliated with the Thespians and Girls Athletic Association for three years. She participated in the ' Brigadoon" production. Active in LDS Church affairs, she is a teacher in Junior Jun-ior Sunday School. Her fiance is a veteran of three years active duty as ammunition sergeant for an artillery support unit in Europe, receiving his discharge in December, 1967. He is presently employed with the Fayless Cleaners concern in Murray. A graduate of the American Amer-ican Fork High School, he has attended Utah Technical College. He will resume his studies in Instrumental Repair at Utah Tech, this Fall. are Mrs. Wilson Cunningham and the late Glenn Boley of American Ameri-can Fork. Miss Bown is Jf graduate of the Orem High School and also the Brigham Young University. In high school she was a member mem-ber of the Tigeretts and a'cap-ella a'cap-ella choir. At BYU she was a member of the Opera workshop. She has been teaching school in the San Juan and Tooele School Districts. Mr. Boley is a graduate of the American Fork High School where he was business manager of the school studentbody. He also graduated from the BYU and was active in I Triple Eand Folk Dancing. He fulfilled an LDS mission in Scotland and has completed Air National Guard training, and is presently employed em-ployed with Univac in St. Paul Minnesota. I Alpine Stake M-Men, Gleaners Plan Activities The Alpine Stake M Men and Gleaners have planned several activities for the coming week. All members o! the stake group are urged to participate. On Friday night, July 12, all M-Men and Gleaners from both the Alpine and American Fork Stakes are invited to meet at the Junior High Seminary Building at 7:15 p.m. for rides to American Fork Canyon where there will be an old fashioned baseball game, a game of volley ball and lots of good food. On Sunday evening, July 14, a Fireside has been arranged. Wendell B. Terry will be the guest speaker. For time and place call Tom Lamoreaux or Judy Beckstrand at 756- 239 2 or 756-3730 respectively. On Tuesday, July 16, a Hoot-enany Hoot-enany will be held at the Jr. High Seminary Building. The fun begins at P-30 p.m. Come join the group for a summer of real fun. Only July 9, the American Fork Twelfth Ward Primary presented pre-sented their Children's Friend Festival. The children sang songs, told jokes, and also told about other things that are found in the Children's Friend magazine. maga-zine. An August 16 wedding in the Mantl Temple is being planned Orem Festival to Follow Great American Tradition Additional attractions and events each year have made the Orem Summer Festival one of the biggest and best week-long celebrations in the State. As these activities have increased, in-creased, their annual parade has grown also. This year more floats, more bands, more business bus-iness representation and more civic tnd church participation is planned around the theme "Great American Traditions." Baseball, Thanksgiving, the 4th of July, hot dogs and ico cream cones, the Charleston, rodeos, Eddy Cantor, cowboys and Indians, In-dians, Popeye, Johnny Appleseed and Tom Sawyer, Old Glory, Uncle Sam and the old swim-min' swim-min' hole are just a few of the things that are dear to our hearts and may, along with other ideas be depicted on floats or by marching march-ing individuals. Busy Bees Perform Community Service The Busy Bees 4-H Club held their latest meeting Monday, July 8. The meeting was called to order or-der by Karleen Bowman and the prayer was offered by Karen Healey. The members worked on their projects and Mrs. Jeppson demonstrated dem-onstrated how to put in a zipper. Each girl brought cookies and cupcakes and following the meeting, meet-ing, took them to the Pleasant Valley Nursing Home In Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove. This activity was a community service project. Alfred Herrera, Jr. Home on Leave Pvt. Alfred Herrera Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Herrera Her-rera Sr. of American Fork, is presently on leave from the U.S. Army for two weeks visiting with his parents and family members as well as friends. He was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas, and was later transferred to Fort Polk, La., where he received re-ceived advanced infantry training. train-ing. Following his leave, he will be going to Fort Hood, Texas for further training prior to his next assignment. Club members made a trip to Aspen Grove where they slept out all night.
