All members of the group are participating in the fund raising event which was so popular last year. Paintings will go on sale with opening of Steel Art Show, Thursday, July 18. The paintings will be sold at a cost you can afford. Any artist in American Fork or surrounding area is invited to donate one or more miniature paintings for the project. The American Fork Art Board announces the sale of miniature ; paintings in connection with the annua 1 Steel Days Art Show, which will be held at the city hall, July 18, 19 and 20. The art show will be open each of tnese three days from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. The picture sale will begin as the art show opens and will be held in the upstairs display area. The beautiful miniatures which were so popular last year, will be offered at extremely rea sonable prices, providing artj lovers with an opportunity to j add to their private collections. : This is also a fine method of purchasing suitable paintings as gifts for special occasions. The minatures will mostly be five by seven inches, but a few six by eight and other sizes will be offered, all minatures of oil, water color and other media. Twentv-four classroom teach ers associations across the nation na-tion were given citations for devising de-vising projects which directly benefit teachers in their respective respec-tive areas. The Local Project Recognition Program is sponsored annually by the Association of Classroom Teachers (ACT) whose mere than 900,000 members compose a majority ma-jority of NEA's million-plus membership. ACT cooperates with state departments de-partments of classroom teachers in this recognition program to make the ideas behind outstanding outstand-ing local projects available to teachers associations in other areas. Awards were presented by ACT President-elect Bruce P. The association was one of 24 in the nation selected in the Local Project Recognition Program sponsored by ACT and state departments of classroom teachers. Presentation of awards was made during the annual convention of the Na tional Education Association in Dallas. gates. To qualify for this recognition program, a local teachers group must develop a project in one of four areas- professional development, de-velopment, instruction, public relations, or direct services to members. Each state may recommend rec-ommend four local projects for recognition. ALAN R. SMITH JOINS GEOLOGICAL STAFF OF PAN AM. PETROLEUM Alan R. Smith has recently joined the geological staff of Pan American Petroleum Corp. in its Denver division office. Mr. Smith, a native of American Amer-ican Fork, Utah, graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.S. degree in 1966. He received re-ceived his M. S. degree in 1968 from Brigham Young University.
