' ' ' Visit the unique Four Corners The Navajo Nation cordially welcomes you to visit one of the country's most unique landmarks land-marks - The Four Corners. This is the only place in the United States where four states come together at one place. Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado meet at the Four Corners. Here a person can put each of their hands and feet in four states at the same time. The Four Corners Monument was originally surveyed and established by the US Government Surveyors and Astronomers in 1868 with the survey of Colorado's southern boundary. Surveys followed of New Mexico's west boundary and Utah's east boundary in 1878. The northern boundary of Arizona was surveyed in 1901. A small permanent marker was erected in 1912 where the boundaries of the four states intersected. The Monument was refurbished in 1992 with a bronze disk embedded in granite. Each of the state boundaries radiate from the disk and each state's seal rests within that state's boundary. The Four Corners Monument is located west of US Highway 160, 40 miles southwest of Cortez, Colorado. The area surrounding the monument is Indian land which includes part of New Mexico, Utah,, and Arizona and covers FOR RESERVATIONS: mioo-t2u-I2:ii (GATTIEWAY IINTC 88 East Center Blanding, Utah (435) 678-2278 Heated Pool (Seasonal) . The visitor Center is open year round. In the Demonstration Center, Navajo vendors sell handmade jewelry, crafts, and traditional foods. Picnic tables and restrooms are available. If you are looking at new boats, Heringer Marine is an essential stop. Their most popular pop-ular boat, the Ebbtide, is the ideal all-around boat for family fun. It is great for fishing, skiing or just cruis ing with the wind rushing through your hair. Family fun is what boating is all about according to Clark Heringer, the owner. He believes that a family that boat together, stays together. "Our goal is to sell boats to people and give them a vehicle for their family to enjoy life together, spend quality time, uninterrupted by phone or TV," Clark said. , Heringer Marine also sells the Tmqn, a pro fishing boat, the Hydra-Sport and the Gekko, a tournament ski boat. The sales associates at Heringer Marine let every customer select the boat that fits them and their needs. They do not believe in the high-pressure sale. Heringer's theory is simple, if you take away the commission, and pay sales people on salary, then you literally take the salesman sales-man out of the salesman. "We don't need another boat sale, we need another happy customer," Heringer said. All the fun toys to make the boating experience expe-rience better are at Heringer. They have the largest selection of tubes and inflatable boat toys. Heringer Marine has the largest water-ski water-ski pro shop in Utah County. They are exclusive exclu-sive to HO and HyperUte. Heringer Marine also provides the best repair service for boats. Their staff is ready to do anything from a basic tune-up to a major boat rebuild. They also provide an indoor boat storage facility, the only one in the county. Heringer Marine does it all from sell, to service, to storage. Clark believes in offering his customers everything to satisfy their boating needs. "We keep families afloat in a boat," he said. Heringer Marine is family owned and operated since its beginning 30 years ago. Clark took it over from his father six years ago and now his kids help him run the shop. It is found at 944 North 1200 West or call 801-225-9133. |
