Show Pa?e S Senior Section December 2001 Heritage Care Center provides good care and a Kind staff Heritage Care Center, located in American Fork, has recently been voted the 1 nursing home in I'tah County for 2001. Based upon it's reputation for yood care, kind staff, safety aw areness, and successful suc-cessful therapy services, Heritage has worked hard to ;irn the compliments th a the community has jriv. :. ritage provides a con-tit: con-tit: aity of care that is unique to Utah County, and very helpful to meet all the needs of the disabled dis-abled and elderly who require needs that are greater than can be provided pro-vided at home. Heritage Haven is an - 15b Assisted Living Level 1 portion of the facility that provides meal services with regularly scheduled snacks, laundry services, housekeeping, as well as staff available to answer any questions that may arise. Because it is attached to the building, the advantages of having nursing services available at any time is an added bonus. The Shirley Garrett Long Term Care unit is available for those residents resi-dents who require 24 hour nursing services. These residents have reached a point in their lives where they are dependent on the help and assistance of oth Prime fi ' 'X 4 ' ers to be able to complete the tasks of daily living. Specialized diets ordered by the residents physician are incorporated into the meals by the corporate dietician, and made to be as appealing to the resident resi-dent as possible. Nursing staff including RN, LPN, and CNA's are available 24 hours to answer any needs that may arise by families and residents. The staff at Heritage is specially trained at time of employment, as well as regular inservices, to make every interaction with each and every resident resi-dent be a positive one. All staff are taught that each resident in the facility has time. ' I V. led a life full of experiences. experi-ences. They have created memories in their lifetime that have affected the lives of others. At Heritage, with their motto of Honoring Our Heritage with a Tradition of Caring, they are fortunate to have the privelege of being involved in the lives of their residents and become part of the residents resi-dents extended family. Memory Lane is a recent addition that is a secured unit to meet the needs of those who have special, needs. Focusing primarily on those affected affect-ed with dementia, this unit provides a calm and quiet environment that has been proven to be the lless confusing to these residents. A specialized recreational program creates cre-ates activities that focus on the needs of each individual indi-vidual and seems to slow the progression of the dementia. Sensory Stimulation, Validation Therapy, Relaxation Therapy just to name a few, are provided for these residents. Reality Orientation is not enforced to these residents resi-dents because it has not been shown to be beneficial benefi-cial to them, instead, because their long term memory is still somewhat accurate, at least to them, it is focused on and they are encouraged to talk about their memories. Families are provided with training to help them deal with the loss or change of their loved ones, and counseling is provided for them. The Guy Richards Rehabilitation Center is provided for those residents resi-dents who need specialized special-ized nursing services on a short term basis. After their stay in a hospital, the residents can qualify for rehabilitation services. Heritage Care Center is contracted with Mountainlands Therapy Services. Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapies are provided on site to give residents the opportunity to regain some, if not all, of their strength. Residents who have the ability are provided pro-vided with a care plan to maximize their strengths to help them get back to their previous living conditions. con-ditions. Many people are very hesitant to go to a nursing facility, but statistics statis-tics have shown that if therapy services to rebuild stength are utilized, people peo-ple have a greater chance for success at home, and there is less recurrence of hospitalization.
