Show Orem-Geneva Times Wednesday, January 30, 1991 Page 9 Obituaries Oran Finlinson Oran J. Finlinson, 79, died Jan. 24, 1991inProvo. He was born Nov. 25, 1911 in Oak City, to Joshua and Ida Jane Jacob-son Jacob-son Finlinson. He married Helen Walker on Dec. 22, 1933, in Manti. She preceded him in death on Jan. 5, 1934. He married Rosella Wright on June 2, 1939 in Manti. She died on Dec. 13, 1965. On Jan. 10, 1974 he married Irene Wilkerson in Las Vegas, Nev. He was a graduate of Delta High School in Delta. From 1933 to 1947 he was a dairy farmer in Oak City. He then moved to Payson, where he built a successful dairy operation. After retirement in 1974, he moved to Orem. He was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding the office of High Priest. He served as Sunday School superintendent, superinten-dent, High Priest group secretary, and home teacher. He enjoyed gardening, flowers, music and visiting friends. He was gifted at putting others at ease. He is survived by his wife; three sons: Vaun Finlinson of Provo, Maurice Finlinson and Dan Finlinson, Finlin-son, both of Orem; step-children: David Wiberg of Vernal, Joseph Wiberg of Capitola, Calif.; James Wiberg, Mrs. Roland (Connie) Den-nison, Den-nison, both of Las Vegas, Nev., Mrs. Jack (Linda) Leftwich of Provo, Lynn Wiberg of Murray; 22 grandchildren; four sisters, Rebecca Pratt, Mrs. Ivan (Ina) Nielson, and Mrs. Gordon (Clarice) Nielson, all of Oak City, and Mrs. Don (Loraine) Anderson of Gunnison, Gun-nison, one brother, Dwain Jr. Finlinson Finlin-son of Oak City. He was preceded in death by a son, Hal Finlinson; a sister, Donna Sorenson; and a brother, Olan Finlinson. Services were held Monday in the Orem 89th Ward LDS Chapel. Burial was in the Oak City Cemetery, Oak City. Stanley Roberts Stanley H. Roberts, 90, died Jan. 22, 1991, at his home. He was born July 1, 1900, in Provo, to James John and Suzanne Bert Robert, who had emigrated from northern Italy. He married Sarah Lavon Tucker, Dec. 23, 1934, in Provo. Their marriage was solemnized solem-nized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and held the office of High Priest. He attended Page School and finished 8th grade. He pursued fruit farming and sold his fruit locally. He was involvedin the construction business, busi-ness, moving houses, clearing land, and earth moving. His later years have been spent working as water-master water-master of three canals. He had a keen interest and knowledge of water rights on the Provo River. He is survived by his wife, Provo; two sons and two daughters, James Roberts, Tracy, Calif.; Stanley H.' Roberts, Jr., Orem; Mrs. Bryan (Susan) Hartley, San Jose, Calif.; Mrs. Randy (Carol) Kimball, Layton; 29 grandchildren, one great-grandchild. Funeral was Saturday, Jan. 26, Pleasant View 6th Ward LDS Chapel, provo. Burial Provo City Cemetery. Parley Edwards Parley Si Edwards, 32, of Pleasant Grove, died Jan. 22, 1991 in Hawaii of a heart attack. He was born March 17, 1958 in Provo to Drew V. and Irene Bennett Edwards. He married Debra Crofts on Aug. 6, 1976, in Alpine. He is survived by his wife, three daughters; his mother, his father of Orem; five sisters, two brothers. Services were held Wednesday in the Olpin Family Mortuary, Pleasant Grove. Burial was in the Alpine City Cemetery. Stabilizing older residential neighborhoods neighbor-hoods and decreasing the amount of substandard substan-dard housing through housing rehabilitation and eliminating or improving im-proving slum andor urban blight which have deteriorated through neglect for the benefit of low and moderate income in-come persons. 3. Encourage and pursue the establishment establish-ment of commerce and industry which will provide pro-vide quality employment for the unemployed and underemployed thereby benefiting low and moderate income persons. per-sons. 4. Atkinson Stephen Cook Atkinson, 49, died Jan. 22, 1991 at his home in Provo. He was born June 4, 1941, in Salt Lake City, a son of Mark Rudy and Millie Kathleen Cook Atkinson. He married Frances Strang, Sept. 7, 1962 in the Manti LDS Temple. He attended schools in Richfield. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in elementary elemen-tary education and taught school in Alpine School District for 25 years, retiring in 1979. He had been a teacher at Cascade School in Orem. He loved the outdoors, the mountain, moun-tain, hunting, fishing and sports. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was a High Priest. He is survived by his wife, Provo; one daughter and one son, Stacie Atkinson, At-kinson, Gary Atkinson, both of Provo; one grandson; his parents, Salt Lake City; one sister, Susan Morwood, Kearns. Carlie Davenport Carlie Callister Davenport, 79, of Payson, died Jan. 22, 1991, at a Payson Hospital. She was born Sept. 16, 1911, in Burtner (Delta), to Joseph Platte and Sarah Elizabeth Christensen Callister. Cal-lister. She married Leland LaDell Davenport, Aug. 22, 1932, in Salt Lake City. Their marriage later was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died in 1984. She is survived by three sons and two daughters; 32 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister including Mrs. Albert (LaDean) Keeler of Orem. He was born July 22, 1947, in Ontario, On-tario, Ore., a son of Dehlin A. and Jean Chytraus Erickson. He married Kathleen Stettler, Feb. 19, 1980, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was raised in Ontario. He graduated from Brigham Young University magna cum laude. He was graduate of Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago and completed an anesthesiology residency residen-cy in Salt Lake City, he later became a board certified anesthesiologist. He served in the Air Force in Ft. Walton, Florida. He returned to Orem and was practicing at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. He was an Elder in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and had served a mission to Hawaii. He was acting in Scouting and had received his Eagle and Duty to God Awards. He had served as a gospel doctrine teacher, Elders Quorum teacher and was serving in the Orem Sharon 5th Ward Elders Quorum presidency. Survivors include his wife and two sons, David Sterling Erickson, Scott Michael Erickson, all of Orem; his parents, Ontario, Ore.; two brothers and three sisters: Dr. Louis A. Funeral was Saturday, Jan. 26, in the Orem Sharon 5th Ward LDS Chapel. Bernice Reynolds Bernice Bowen Reynolds, 73, died Jan. 21, 1991, in Provo. She was born Oct. 7, 1917, in Archer, Ar-cher, Idaho, a daughter of Clyde and Sue Stacey Bowen. She married Mark Albert Reynolds, June 18, 1941, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She is survived by her husband, Provo; three sons and two daughters, including Mrs. Ted F. (Julene) Hansgen of Orem; 17 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; three sisters ' and a half-brother. Funeral was Friday, Jan. 25, in Provo. Burial Springville City Cemetery. Inez M. Johnson Inez McClure Johnson, 90, of Orem, died Wednesday, January 23, at the Family Living Center in Orem, Utah which was established primarily primari-ly for her care. She was born June 24, 1900, in Levan, Utah to Travis Lizzie and Fred McClure. She graduated from Juab High School, valedictorian of her class. ( Inez taught seven grades in a one room school house in Mills, Utah. On June 20, 1920, she married Allan Dale Johnson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Her husband was involvedin the lumber business which took them to Lyndyll, Richfield, Provo and finally final-ly Salt Lake City. They chose to return to Utah County where they built with other members of the family, fami-ly, Utah Valley Builders Supply in Orem, which they operated until 1970. Inez traveled extensively with her husband when he represented Utah as the State Liquor Commissioner. She was active in church work serving serv-ing as Primary President and on Stake boards. She taught m any Relief Society classes. She served as president presi-dent of Orem High PTA, president of Orem Ladies Literary Club and was a member of the Orem Women's Club and the Timpanogos Knife and Fork, but devoted most of her time serving her family. She is survived by her two sons and three daughters, Allan M. and Valda Johnson, Kanab, Utah; Adele and Gilbert Gil-bert Jensen, Travis and Fred Jack-man, Jack-man, Thad and Maria Johnson, all of Orem; Virginia and Paul Washburn, Pleasant Grove. He was born Oct. 10, 1910, in Eureka, to Bert L. and Myrtle Pointer Carter. He married Blanch Gingell, Sept. 28, 1936. He received his education in the Provo schools and worked as a carpenter car-penter and electrician for many years. He started his own contracting business, busi-ness, Carter Construction Co., and built many homes in Utah Valley. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Orem; one daughter and two sons, Mrs. Don K. (Natanya) Jensen, Ogden, Kenneth Ken-neth J. Carter, Provo; Dennis B. Carter, Orem; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters, Fred D. Carter, Orem; Ned J. Carter, Phil J. Mary Swapp Mary Elizabeth Hartley Perry Huff Swapp, 95, died Jan. 24, 1991 at her home in Provo. She was born Jan. 5, 1896 in Provo, the first of seven children of Andrew and Hannah Wadsworth Hartley. She married Ivan A. Perry on Oct. 3, 1917 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died Oct 2, 1926. On Sept. 11, 1929 she married Milton E. Huftin the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died April 1, 1930. She married Joseph H. Swapp on Dec. 29, 1937 in Nephi. He died Dec. 9, 1970. She is survived by one daughter, one daughter-in-law, 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; several great-greatgrandchildren; one brother; five stepchildren step-children including Kenneth Huff of Orem.
