Orem City Council has tentatively tentative-ly approved a plan which would possibly speed construction of a major ma-jor culinary-water distribution line from the city's water treatment plant to 14th South. The Bureau of Reclamation had planned to fund construction in 1988 but agreed to move funding to fiscal 1985 and 1986 if Orem funds engineering engineer-ing costs. According to Orem City Officials, it would only cost the city $85,000 for engineering, but the city would be credited by the bureau for the entire $868,000 in estimated engineering -costs. City Engineer Ted Thaxton said it would cost the city much less because the engineer hired would be able to use city facilities and personnel. Projected current construction costs are $2.8 million, plus engineering engineer-ing services of about $868,000 - as estimated by the Bureau of Reclamation. For the city to complete the engineering, it will hire a temporary engineering specialist and technician for the 19-month life of the project. If the city proceeds immediately with the project, the aqueduct could be completed by January 1986. ADRIAN NICHOLE MYERS Orem Girl To Vie In Nat.
